Sunday 30 Jun. 22:59 - 23:59
Up to 12 participants will go on a weekend completing missions to earn money for the pot, but "nothing is as it seems". 1 participant will try his best to make sure this does not happen. This mole shall try to sabotage the games without being noticed and the other participants will try to unmask him.
Are you a fan of the Dutch tv show "Wie is de Mol?" or its international spinoffs? Have you always wondered what it would be like to join yourself? Do you have nerves made of steel? Do you think you are capable of finding the mole in a rollercoaster of emotions, lies and foul play?
Then you're in luck because GEMOLD is back! There is a fresh new committee that wants to organise a weekend full of intrigue and mysteries next year. But organising such a weekend costs a lot of time and effort, so we want to make sure there is enough interest from possible participants before we invest our time. So subscribe now! (Please note that this is only an interest list and not the actual subscription list.)
Would you prefer to join the committee instead and help us organise this once in a lifetime experience? Please reach out to the internal affairs officer of the board because we could use a few extra hands.
Sunday 30 Jun. 08:58 - 08:59
Every year, the introduction committee needs intro parents to house all new students. In this form, you will be able to subscribe to the introduction week as a introduction parent with one of your friends!
The introduction week is from 19/08/2023 until 23/08/2023. This means that you HAVE to be available during those times. Next to that, there will also be a training day during the holidays where you need to be present. This day is on the Saturday before the intro week, so 17/08/2023. If you are currently studying, you can be an intro parent!
You don't need to be a GEWIS member. If you want to sign up with your wannabe co-parent, fill in the form below! Take note, this year we are using a different selection from last year. Note, there is limited capacity.

Dear all,
We are the organisers of the DET day 2024. This is a day when mathematics and computer science students from Delft, Eindhoven and Twente spend the day together with all kinds of fun activities. This year the DET day will be held on the University of Twente. The DET day takes place on June 20 and starts at 11:00 on the UT campus with a delicious ‘kroketten’ lunch! The whole day is meant to get to know each other and the campus. Lunch and dinner are arranged by us. The day ends with a drink and, of course, a party! There is also an option to stay overnight, after which we will provide a delicious breakfast.
The prices shown are an upper bound and will most likely be a bit lower. We think it would be amazing for you to be there. Hopefully, we will see you soon!
The DET-day committee.
P.S: Train tickets have to be bought by yourself if you have weekend-OV, but if enough people join, you can band together to buy group tickets.

Let us introduce this exquisite event by presenting a few illustrious quotations from distinguished gentlemen:
"The greatest thing about tomorrow is, I will be even better than I am today." - Quaestor Henkemans "A leading difficulty with the average player is that he totally misunderstands what is meant by concentration. That is why I am above average!" - Praeses Mokveld "It is a compromise between what your ego wants you to do, what experience tells you to do, and what the wine lets you do." - Vice-Praeses Verkade "I look into their eyes, shake their hand, pat their back, and wish them luck, but I am thinking, I am going to bury you." - Ab-Actis OosterholtThese quotations share a common theme: the sublime sport known as golf. The esteemed fraternity "In Vino Veritas" has embraced this sport since time immemorial. What is our opinion on this elegant pastime? It is one of the rare activities where savoring fine wine complements the exercise. There is simply nothing like striking the ball with a club in one hand and a glass of exquisite wine in the other.
Therefore, "In Vino Veritas" proudly presents "Slaan met Stokken"! Following the resounding success of our event two years ago, it is time once again to gather and enjoy an evening of golf with fellow GEWISers. On the 18th of June at 16:30, join us for a golf clinic where you will learn the art of striking a ball with a club and even play a few holes on the lush course. For non-first-year students, this delightful experience is available for just €15,-, offering you the chance to channel your inner Tiger Woods. First-year students can partake for a mere €10,-.
Upon concluding your golf session at 19:00, there will be an optional BBQ for an additional €12,50. This sumptuous feast includes three pieces of meat, an array of tapas, salads, and baguettes. Vegetarians, fear not, as we have thoughtfully prepared options for you as well.
We eagerly anticipate seeing you on the golf course on the 18th of June. May you have a splendid hitting season, and remember, always raise a glass to this magnificent sport!

We are Anago, a young and innovative software developer. We are not a standard IT organization, but an enthusiastic team of 60 young, smart people, where women are in the majority. We believe that sustainability and work that energizes you are more important than making a profit. We also believe that planning is essential for organizations that want to grow and improve on their own.
Anago creates standard planning solutions for the public sector such as Education, Government and Public Healthcare. We do this with our own smart, no-code platform. With our solutions we want to create an impact on the lives of many people. We are in the process of redefining our own platform. We want to make it fast and future proof using state-of-the-art technology. But in doing so, we are facing many challenges in the field of computer science. Building planning systems, we use complex and large data structures and we model complex calculations.
During the lecture we want to touch a couple of these subjects, such as:
Efficient in-memory storage of large multidimensional structures Parallel calculations Lazy calculation techniquesWe will share our thoughts on these, but maybe you have ideas on things we should further investigate! See you on the 11th of June!
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.
Monday 10 Jun. 18:30 - 22:00
Are you a real chess pro? Or are you a CAsual player who wants to have some fun? Either way, we have the ACtivity for you: hand & brain chess!
Together with S.C.C.E. Noesis, the student chess association, we are organising a fun (k)night of chess and comradery. We host a hand & brain tournament in which you CAn show both your chess skills and teamwork. We will set up extra boards for those who want to play some more chess between rounds.
For those who don't know what hand & brain means, here are the rules. You play with a partner. One of you is the hand, the other the brain. When it's your move, the brain names a piece (e.g. pawn). The hand needs to move any piece of that type. CAstling is a king move. Note that the hand and the brain don't get to discuss moves. Hinting your brain what piece to name is not allowed either.
Of course your brain needs some fuel for chess. Therefore, we will order Fuso Wok, which will arrive near the start of the ACtivity. You CAn add your "Wok"-dish on the "Fuso Wok" sign-up list on this ACtivity before 14.00h on the 10th of June. You CAn pay using a debit/credit CArd.
Hugs, the AC
Monday 10 Jun. 13:30 - 18:00
Initially, this is where a very dramatic Hunger Games-type dialogue would have gone, but sadly this is no more. Still, future introparents, we would like for all of you to gather on the 10th of June. To ensure your district will survive, it is of utmost importance that you can trust your fellow introparent.
During the IBA you will compete against the parents of other, future, districts. You will go head to head in spongepants battles, archery and more! Do you and your future co-parent have what it takes? Or will you end up in divorce...?
Of course, as the actual Hunger Games do not start until August, we shall not let you starve... yet. So there will be some snacks!
Sign up with your fellow intro parent (only one has to sign-up), or alone if you are still looking for a partner! Also, do not forget to subscribe to become an intro parent over at: gew.is/parent2024
Saturday 8 Jun. 13:30 - 23:59
After the success of last year's pride walk, Eindhoven will have its first official pride this year on the 8th of June!! We from Défi can't miss that of course, and we'd love to bring as many GEWIS'ers as possible to this festive event.
We will meet together at the social hub at 13:30. Here you will get the opportunity to dress up in the safe change area. Make sure to bring your most colorful clothes! The theme of this year is: "Light up your pride", and we can't wait to see everyone glow ;) We will also bring some rainbow decorations to ensure everyone is looking festive!
At 14:00 the pride parade will start and we will walk through the center of Eindhoven. During the parade we will, of course, provide some snacks. And directly after, at around 14:30, we will go to the Pride Vibes festival! (Don't forget your identification). At the festival, we will enjoy some music from great musicians and performances by drag queens!!
The activity will be completely free of charge, so the only costs will be the drinks that you buy during the festival. Make sure to subscribe if you plan on joining us, that way we can indicate how many snacks we need to buy. (If you want to join us later than 13:30, that is fine as well, please still subscribe). We can't wait and we hope to see you there, so that we can all celebrate love together <3
Hugs,
Défi
Fri. 7 Jun. (14:00) - Sun. 9 Jun. (18:00)
Are you excited to spend your weekend in lovely nature and not afraid to engage in some adventurous activities, or just looking for a place to enjoy a cozy campfire all night long, or are you in for both? Then get ready for the B.O.O.M. Active Weekend of 2024!
This year, we will visit the Nonceveux in the Belgian Ardennes. Here we have arranged some great activities for you, both on the Saturday and Sunday. We won’t spoil them yet, but examples from previous years are climbing, traversing a trail between treetops and canoeing. Next to this, there is more to enjoy during the weekend, you can “stream” in the river at the campsite (ask B.O.O.M. members for details) and in the evening there will be a campfire to keep you warm. Since we are on a campsite, we will sleep in cozy tents.
You don’t have to bring/buy your own food or drinks as this is all inclusive during the weekend! On Friday you have the opportunity to taste Sako’s famous pasta salad, and on Saterday you can enjoy a nice BBQ. Next to that, we will arrange a sufficient supply of beers and soda (and coffee for the tough mornings, don’t worry).
The weekend will take place from 7th till 9th of June 2024. If you want to join please subscribe below. As we need enough cars to drive everyone to Belgium, people with a car available wil be given priority if necessary. If you have a car available, please indicate this and mention how many places (including yourself) you have in the car. We would also like to know if you have a tent and how many people could fit in it. We will not make tent groups but this might give other people some help in asking around to find a place to sleep :)
We are planning on taking 50 persons to our awesome weekend, so subscribe as soon as possible! When there is a lot of interest, we may be able to scale up, but we cannot promise anything yet!
Met takken!
Thursday 6 Jun. 12:40 - 13:20
Uber is a global leader in ride-sharing and delivery services. To get where we are today, Uber had to build a robust and scalable software architecture. Leveraging microservices and asynchronous communications, we were able to design a system that allows Uber to support localised payment methods, such as iDeal, out of the box. Over this lecture, we will go over the decisions we took to get to this design and, ultimately, explain what is happening behind the app when you request a Ride and pay with your preferred payment method.
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.
Wednesday 5 Jun. 18:30 - 21:00
As a small introduction to Défi's first lustrum and (hopefully) first external weekend for GEWIS, we present to you: a painting activity with a challenge. This challenge will be to paint something that you perceive as a nightmare, something you would rather not think about, something scary...
After a small introduction from the amazing leader of our workshop, you will get a 30x40cm canvas and some paint and you can start! Since it is a very good idea to have a small break in the meantime to do some reflection and help each other out, there will be a nice snack in the middle of the activity as well :)
Then some practical information: please bring a bag so you can take your painting home. Also, it speaks for itself that your clothes might get dirty from the paint, so it is not wise to wear your newest or most expensive clothes. Please take that into account!
With love,
Défi
Note: in the case that this activity fills up within 1 hour, there will be a draw between the participants that are at that point signed up. If not, a first-come first-serve policy will be maintained. There are only 24 spots.

GEHACK is organising a techno party on the 4th of June at the BOLD. Tired of competing in programming competitions or parties with only pop music? So are we, which is why GEHACK is organising this party. Not to celebrate a lustrum, but to bring techno music to the association.
The first 100 beers are free.
Tuesday 4 Jun. 12:40 - 13:20
During this lunch lecture, someone will talk about what it is like working as a Data Science consultant at Pipple and discuss some interesting assignments they get from clients. Next they will talk in more detail about their research at the Jeroen Bosch Hospital. Here they try to predict which patients might experience side-effects following a new kind of treatment for patients with an auto-immune disease by using textual data in Electronic Patient Files. By using this model they can help doctors make better choices in the treatment of patients with auto-immune disease
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.

We are all looking forward to this Thursday, enjoying a BAC beer, a White Mamba from the draft, an ATHENA cocktail and a B.O.O.M. burger from the Barbecue and of course all that outside with a lovely sunshine. However, to prevent the predicted rain overflowing your drinks, extinguishing the barbecue, and causing more water on your clothes than the swimming pool, we have decided to move the borrel to the GEWIS room.
But fear not, the cocktails and beers will be just as tasty! And as it appears we are not allowed to bring the barbecue inside, we are looking into a nice other snack to make sure that you don’t have to be hungry during the borrel!
Hope to see you all this Thursday!

Dear (sportive) members,
Are you also looking forward to better and sunnier weather in coming spring? What better way to start off spring by running the most fun relay race of them all, the Batavierenrace! In the weekend of the 24th till the 26th of May, we from GEWIS will once again travel to Nijmegen to run together a distance of 175km to Enschede, divided into 25 parts, running during the night, in the morning and in the afternoon.
Like last year, we are running with two teams, so make sure to subscribe soon to not only run with us but enjoy the biggest student party in Europe on Saturday! If there are not enough subscriptions we will join with one team. In case of too many subscriptions, there will be a draw. We will sleep in our own tents on the campus of Twente University and every time a new team will go to their starting point to take over the responsibility of the prior team to run GEWIS to the finish. Hopefully, you're looking forward to this relay race just as much as we do (or even more of course)!
With sportive regards, GESPORT.

We all know what fire is. We have felt it up close and seen it in various sizes, from small to large. It can be nice and cozy when it's in a campfire, and we sit around it, but it can also be destructive, destroying everything in its path. Around 2 million years ago, humans started to use fire to our advantage. Over all these years, we have mastered the use of fire and controlled it to our benefit, leading us to where we are now. Even with the technology we have today, we still cannot control fire everywhere.
Almost everyone has seen fire breathers at festivals or in a circus, and it looks absolutely spectacular. Have you ever thought, 'I can do that?' Or maybe, 'I would like to learn that as well so I look super cool for my family and friends?' This is a unique chance to try it in a controlled environment. If you join us in this activity, it's your time to shine and breathe fire.
We have arranged for a professional trainer who is specialized in fire breathing. He will join us and explain everything you want to know about fire breathing. First, he will give an introductory course on all there is to know about fire breathing. After this, we will do some exercises to learn how to properly breathe fire. And finally, we will, of course, go outside and put into practice what we have learned. The entire instruction, including the fire breathing itself, will take between 3 to 4 hours. If you subscribe, you need to be present for the entire activity.
There are 30 spots excluding burgers! In case there are more subscriptions it is first come first serve.
Hugs,
B.O.O.M.

Data in Construction – How to make a proper cake.
The construction industry is notoriously old-fashioned and slow, however, the industry is evolving and embracing ‘modern’ technology. Therefore, this old-school industry is coping with a wealth of new data which they do not always know how to handle. Interesting topics like predictive maintenance, AI-assisted design and sustainable developments seem far out of reach when organizations do not even know how many assets they have. The industry is trying to make a cake, while they only have raw sugar cane.
To solve this issue, BIM-Connected proposes an innovative way of working with data: Linked Data! This way of working can provide an improved Common Data Environment to answer (almost) all your questions. We are trying to make actual sugar, from sugar cane, so that the Built Environment can finally make some proper cakes!
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.

Hey everyone,
Every year our sister association, W.S.G. Abacus, creates a puzzle booklet for their members. This year they want to expand to all of WISO and they have asked us if members are interested.
We, the board, see many of you enthousiastic members making the Sudoku or the Crossword puzzle each day. So, we know some of you are very excited for this. They do have one request, that we also send them a couple of puzzles for this booklet.
If you are interested in receiving a WISO puzzle booklet please subcribe to the sign up list below. If you are interested in making a puzzle please send a mail to board@gewis.nl and we will send you the puzzle booklet (as pdf) from last year. The puzzles have to be send to the board on the 5th of May at the latest.
xoxoxo,
Your lovely board!
Please note: If you are interested in making a puzzle, be creative, Abacus would like to not only receive crosswords and sudokus

TL;DR: Heuristic programming competition, try to get as close to the solution as possible! ;) Sign up here: https://heurific.win.tue.nl/adhoc/
The CPPS track of the Honors Academy and GEHACK present to you – Heuristic Optimization Contest (Ad HOC), a brand-new exciting opportunity for you to show-off your coding and problem-solving skills. This unique challenge is organized for the first time, and we are very excited to see how you – our honored contenders will tackle it! Bring a few laptops, up to three of your most trusted advisors (teammates) and your sharp brains to the battlefield and face the competition! And in return we will provide FREE lunch and snacks during the contest and a small social drink after everything is over and the dust has settled. Then we will also reveal who proved to be the fiercest challenger and award them handsomely! We will of course also show off our own solutions and techniques.
Unlike other programming contests you are already familiar with like EAPC, BAPC, and FYPC, which reward contestants for their speedy implementation and clever tricks, Ad HOC rewards solutions which balance accuracy and running time. You will be presented with one (yes only one) problem, and you will have 4 hours to battle 5 instances of it. The problem is a real-life task that people (even within our department!) get to tackle every year (admittedly, on a smaller scale). However, something is not as it seems... The problem is unsolvable (in any reasonable time)! So, then the best you can do is try to get veeeery close to a solution! The closer you get, the more points you will score and at the end – the team with the most points wins! To put it simply, there isn’t just one “best” solution, instead you can score points with almost any solution you think of. However, some perform better than others and will bring more points!
Finally, you are free to use ANY open-source software, tools, libraries, programming languages, etc. Just like in a war, anything goes. Well, our form of the Geneva convention applies, and you are not allowed to use paid services – like cloud computing or supercomputing power (basically no nukes).
Below, you can find the registration form to sign up and some extra information about the contest’s set-up and rules.
More information and registration form: https://heurific.win.tue.nl/adhoc/

Tuesday 23 Apr. 17:00 - 21:00
Dear reader,
Even if you have been living under a rock, you must have noticed that Hèt Dispuut has already organized numerous activities this academic year. We kicked off the year strongly with the amusing opening of the academic year, providing a preview of all the grand events our fraternity would organize this year. This was followed by a fantastic lustwijn week, where each day was filled with enjoyable activities. Subsequently, we continued with a party together with ATHENA and GEPWNAGE and we welcomed back the members of the association after a long, cold Christmas break.
To up the ante, we even organized another Kitchen with I.V.V to make sure you could enjoy listening to I.V.V'ers speak from the comfort of your own home.
Although we as a fraternity never cease to organize the most prominent events, we also enjoy the simpler things in life. A glass of wine, with a tasty snack. No frills, just simple enjoyment. And as we noticed that there was an unused evening in April, it would be perfect for a nice, simple, Ordinary Maand'lijksche Borrel. That after this year of thrills and excitement, we can go back to drinking a nice wine at "Het Dakterras" once more.
So, dear reader, join us on the twenty-third of April at 17:00 as we return to "Het Dakterras" to enjoy plenty of wine and snacks.
Met hoogachtende groeten,
Dhr. Oosterholt
Praeses der "In Vino Veritas"

How to bring offline capabilities into a cloud based low code platform (PEGA)
Have you ever thought about how offline applications can make a fieldworker's life easier? De Mandemakers Group delivers 1000 kitchens every week thanks to 650 mobile employees. Our mechanics use the Field Service application to register the delivery and assembly of the kitchen(s). As you can imagine, this is an essential step in our customer journey. Our mobile applications support them during this journey, but often depend on a stable Internet connection. So how do you ensure that your employees can also work offline?
CIO Anjo will introduce you to the company and our business challenges. Pega developer Davy focuses on the use of Javascript possibilities to use the mobile application in an offline situation. This session will show you more about how we use Pega, case management, the interaction between server and client and the use of Javascript. Moreover, we would like to introduce you to the possibilities our Dutch company can offer for a career in Tech & IT.
By attending this lunch lecture, you will discover the symbiosis between low-code and Javascript and learn more about Pega; a cloud based low-code software platform.

During the activity, we will provide you with 4 totally different craft cocktails that we think will provide you with a cocktail experience you have never had before! And all that, for the mere price of 11 euros, a price that you would normally barely be able to get 1 cocktail for.
You can sign up on the list below.
A total of 30 spots are available at a first come first serve basis.
We hope to see you all there.
Kind regards, Member Initiative Cocktail Club,
Aimee, René & Michiel.

Infiniot will be giving an interesting lecture about Gridshield, one of the many projects they perform to make the Netherlands a more sustainable by improving energy.
Gridshield
Gridshield is a project that epitomizes our commitment to innovation. In 2023, Infiniot was asked to revamp and enhance a prototype for the Gridshield module, which started a collaboration with ElaadNL, the hub for smart and sustainable electric vehicle charging. Gridshield is a safeguard against grid overload, dynamically managing the power of charging stations for electric vehicles to ensure stability. Think of it as an extra safety net for energy grids. GridShield is a combination of hardware, software, and data, co-engineered hand-in-hand with ElaadNL. After a 9-month journey, we proudly delivered an operational Gridshield system, poised for real-world testing on a grand scale.
Infiniot
Infiniot is a dynamic IT consultancy firm, facilitating the energy transition from our home in Eindhoven on the High Tech Campus. Our team of IT specialists are part of the projects that form the backbone that drives the energy transition, which is a big swift towards a sustainable energy ecosystem. We're collaborating with major players in the Dutch energy market with innovative and big scale projects that make a lasting impact. With expertise spanning Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Development, and Security, we're shaping tomorrow's energy solutions.

Dear Members of GEWIS,
Back in the day, during the lockdowns, we from Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas" devised the perfect activity: a cooking show that everyone could follow from home. Now, fortunately, those lockdowns and the pandemic seem like tales from long ago. But, as you may know, I.V.V is celebrating its 4th Lustrum this year! So, when we realized that the last episode was Volume IV, it meant we could organize the Lustrum episode in our Lustrum year!
Thus, dear members, we have carefully heeded the advice of our predecessors and older members: "Whatever you do, never organize a 'Keuken met I.V.V'" and we have set out to discover why they warned us. Fortunately, you don’t have to do anything but cook alongside us! Given the time of year, we will teach you how to prepare a delightful Easter Dinner, with the main course being a Wild Rabbit Stew!
This cooking show, set to rival Hell's Kitchen, will take place on Twitch (twitch.tv/hetdispuut) and will start on Tuesday, March 19, at around half-past five. The registration list will open on Monday, March 4, and will close on Friday, March 15. We will ensure that most ingredients will be available for pickup at the GEWIS room. The rest of the ingredients, which will be listed in the recipe that will soon be online, you will need to purchase yourself for a negligible amount. Please sign up per group and only the one who is picking up the food. The dinner will serve approximately 4/5 people, however, all courses can be stored or partially prepared in advance. (The stew even tastes better if eaten over two days!)
On behalf of Dispuut "In Vino Veritas"
Praeses Oosterholt
Tuesday 19 Mar. 12:40 - 13:20
NOTE: This activity will be held during the career day, meaning first-year students will not be able to attend this lecture, please do not sign up if you are a first-year student.

Dear GEWIS members,
We as Humbug, the actual best FYC with the most points, with all real first year members, and you CAN quote us on that, invite you to the most amazing activity of the year: our Karaoke night!
We believe that the most important thing in life is having fun and passing all our classes. Sadly we can’t help you with the latter, but we have the perfect solution for the former. You can test out those otherworldly singing skills you perfected in the shower, sign up with your friends for some amazing duets, or just listen to other people’s performances.
The activity will open with us as Humbug singing together, so make sure you’re not late so you don’t miss that life-changing experience. There is also another surprise performance from one of us later on so be on the lookout for that ;)
We will also provide snacks, but since the activity goes pretty late don’t forget to get dinner beforehand!
Hope to see you all there,
XOXO Humbug

ATHENA will come to your rescue. 🦸♀️ The best solution to get your lazy ass moving is some sugar! ATHENA will arrange a bittersweet baked breakfast. 😋 Just as a child, you will be able to decorate your own waffles, cake or pancakes with some whipped cream and decorations. 🧇🥞 In case the amount of sugar is not enough to get you going, you can also take a nap or just chill in the beanbags we provide. 🦥
The food is limited, so the earlier you get out of bed, the more chance you have of securing a lovely breakfast! ⌛

A10A celebrates her second lustrum this year during our lustrum week from Monday 11th of March until Friday the 15th of March. During this week you can join one (or more) activities which are typical for our fraternity.
For Tuesday, we transformed a previously seen activity into something that fits ATHENA a bit better. We will be organizing a centurion but with a twist. 🌀 During a centurion, you will take a shot of, usually beer, every minute for a total of one hundred minutes while listening to some music. 🎶 As beer does not really fit ATHENA, we will prepare cocktails to shot! 🍸Additionally, there will be a personalized playlist selected by ATHENA. You can definitely expect K3, Beyoncé, P!nk, Disney and some other singalongs. 👩🏻🦰👩🏼👩🏻
During the centurion you will be taking a 20 ml shot of cocktail every minute. We will serve Malibu Ice Tea Green and Peachtree Sprite, and switch halfway. If you don’t like either of those two, please let us know, as you will most likely be able to join the full centurion by drinking one of these two.
Be aware that it is not wise to enter this activity on an empty stomach, so make sure you have eaten properly beforehand. In addition, please do not drink any alcohol before the activity starts.
Are you brave enough to leave your ego at the door and join us for this adventure?
We have a maximum of 30 people and it will be first come first serve.
Hugs,
ATHENA🦉

Improving inclusive travel with privacy technology
Data provides significant opportunities, but it also comes with great responsibility. How can we use and connect sensitive data, such as travel records, from different organizations without violating privacy laws or exposing sensitive information? Roseman Labs' solution uses a cryptographic technique called Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC). Our technology allows organizations to combine and jointly analyze datasets without exposing their data.
In this lunch lecture, we will explain the concepts behind this technology and how it's applied. We will also detail a real-world case study of Publiek Vervoer Groningen Drenthe, a public transport organization that used Roseman Labs technology to optimize their social travel subsidies (WMO) with MPC. This innovative project won them the 2024 Dutch Privacy Award in the Application category.
Roseman Labs is a fast-growing Dutch start-up that builds innovative privacy technology. Our products allow customers to perform data analyses across multiple parties without needing to expose the underlying data. Interested? Visit https://rosemanlabs.com

As you all might know, DesKRATes is the best FYC and has the most FYC points of all. We party hard and study even harder and pass all of our courses on the first attempt. And in the wise words of Sun Tzu in The Art of War, "Don't quote me on that".
Though we are but sjaarzen, our minds have developed far beyond our physical incapabilities. That's why we choose to indulge in such activities as philosophical debates. Would you like to stimulate your brain in such a similar way? Then this activity is for you! The best way to increase brain capacity is proven to be hanging out with DesKRATes and this is your chance to do so.
Overthink the hardest of philosophical questions and get a cocktail for each in return (we mustn't forget to dumb our brains down again with alcohol).

Have you ever seen the show Hot Ones on YouTube and wished to be able to try those hot sauces yourself, to see whether you could sustain them all? Défi has you covered!
On the 27th of February we will embark on a journey with seven different hot sauces, of which some are actually used on the show and one is made by Défi! All sauces are accompanied by different (vegetarian) snacks. (Note that seven snacks is quite a lot, but does not serve as dinner, so eat something small beforehand please :) ) Aside from these seven snacks, two spicy cocktails will be made by Défi which you can get when also buying an alcohol ticket for one additional euro. There are, of course, substitutes available for the contestants who cannot survive the spiciness of all of the sauces ;). Other than an interview, we will provide you with spicy questions to answer and challenges to do to distract you from the hot sauces!
Défi wouldn't be Défi if we didn't add a challenge to this spicy activity. You have to subscribe in a duo and can earn points in multiple ways, which will become clear during the activity. The winning duo will go home with a prize! Note that your duo partner should be someone who you are comfortable sharing things with.
There is a limited capacity of 36 people (so 18 duo's), so it will be a first-come-first-serve activity!
Only one person per duo has to subscribe, so the first 18 subscriptions on this list can join!

Attention everyone! We're excited to announce the upcoming ski trip from February 17th to February 22nd. We'll be hitting the slopes and enjoying the beautiful winter scenery for five nights, with six days of skiing! But that's not all - next to the ski pass that is included in the price, we've got some extra options available for those who want to make the most of their experience.
If you're a beginner, be sure to sign up for ski lessons so you can hit the slopes with confidence. Please note that beginners will be required to pay an additional fee of 30 euros to cover the cost of mandatory ski lessons. And if skiing all day every day isn't your thing, we've got some side activities planned to keep you entertained, and the best part is: they're all free!
Now, here's even more exciting news! The city center is only a few minutes' walk away from the accommodation, making it super convenient to explore and have a blast in the evenings and nights at the many fun après-ski bars! Please be aware that ski gear and food are not included in the trip price. However, you will be able to rent everything you need via us, and most rooms have a kitchen that you can share together. There are also various restaurants nearby, ranging from cheap kebab spots to more fancy dining options. So, you'll have plenty of choices to satisfy your appetite and fuel up for the adventures!
Attention: We're thrilled to offer you an incredible opportunity at a maximum cost of just 650 euros for GEWIS members. Non-members are also welcome to join the fun for the same price (but GEWIS members have priority). The final cost may lower depending on factors such as group size, the number of beginners, and sponsorship contributions. Rest assured, our goal is to make the trip even more budget-friendly as these factors come into play. Updates regarding the trip costs will be communicated as soon as possible via our Instagram, so stay tuned!
If you're interested in joining us, mark your calendars for February 16th when we'll be leaving campus in the afternoon. We'll arrive at our destination the next day just in time for hitting the slopes bright and early. And when it's all over, we'll leave at 7 pm on the 22nd and arrive back on campus in the morning after. This trip promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with fun, adventure, and excitement. So pack your warmest gear and get ready for a trip you won't forget!
More information and specifics will be posted on our Instagram page: GEWISKI. Get ready for an epic ski trip with plenty of fun both on and off the slopes! See you there!

Each buddy will get a small group of Erasmus students assigned to them to guide them during the day. Therefore, we are looking for you! On the 10th of February you will meet your buddies in real life and you will guide them during the day. During this intro day, you will have the chance to get to know more people and make friends from all over the world. The intro day will be completely free for you and there will lots of fun activities. We won't spoil too much but there definitely will be a city tour and a pubquiz.

Luckily you know of a place that provides the best care for such a morning; GEWIS! You read that right, a GEWIS party in GEWIS! Do you always find it annoying that you still have to go to the party after drinking in? That's not necessary! Go all out on the most annoying Stratum hits, spin the wheel to always get something you never want and argue with the woman at the toilet because you have to pee and don't want to pay. The real Stratum experience and the first home game in years.
Thursday 1 Feb. 16:30 - 18:30
Dear international student,
This MAVO borrel, we will show you the beauty of true Dutch culture. As is generally known, Dutchies are cheap and beer in the pub/club is not. Therefore, to get wasted optimally, one consumes alcoholic beverages before the party, which is exactly what we're gonna do! So, bring your friends and prepare for the party that is to come!
NOTE: Due to circumstances the borrel will end half an hour earlier, so be on time!
Friday 26 Jan. 10:00 - 18:00

Monday 15 Jan. 17:00 - 21:00
Dear reader,
The new year has begun, which naturally means we cherish or discard our resolutions. With just one week left until the exams start, it's time for self-reflection: how worthwhile is it to study for my exams? Is my time better spent studying or consuming wine? Should I drop a course or will I learn my lesson?
These questions can keep many students awake at night, but the members of Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas" know how to handle this. The new year has begun; instead of worrying about your courses, we advise peaking with a glass of wine. Naturally, we not only provide good ideas but also facilitate this. Therefore, leave your study books aside for one evening, treat yourself, and come to the New Year's reception!
Hèt Dispuut will provide celebratory wine and some snacks to complement the atmosphere.
Met hoogachtende groet,
Praeses Oosterholt
Sunday 14 Jan. 11:00 - 16:00
Do you need to compensate for all the delicious food during the holidays? Are you looking for a way to make your New Year's resolutions more practical? Do you want to enjoy the nice Dutch nature? Are you concerned about keeping up your vitamin D levels for this winter? Do you need some more practice before the GEDWAAL weekend? Do you need to blow off some steam before the exams? Do you love B.O.O.M.? (Or trees?)
The B.O.O.M. Winter Hike will solve all of this! On Sunday, January 14, we will go to the Loon op Zand by public transport, from which we can explore the beautiful Loonse en Drunense duinen.
Put on some good walking shoes and participate in our WhatsApp group for the latest updates. We will take a break at a local restaurant, but it would be convenient to also pack some water and a snack for on the road.

Hello everyone,
We as a board think that it is very important to make GEWIS a more sustainable association, not only for our own future but also for the future of our successors and future members. Therefore we are working on new sustainability ideas, one of which is to provide guidelines for activities on how they can be more sustainable and to show what we as an association expect from activities. For these guidelines the board has already prepared a number of statements that we are passionate about and we want to discuss these with our members and you also bring new ideas!
We have divided these into two brainstorming sessions and in the first brainstorming session we will be discussing traveling and other remaining topics.
We hope to see you there!
Wednesday 10 Jan. 19:00 - 22:00
It's morning in Miller's Hollow. You wake up to the sound of screams: "The mayor is dead!" "Werewolves must have done this!" "They'll pay for this!" The town is in turmoil. Will you help Miller's Hollow through this crisis? Or are you secretly a werewolf?
The AC Werewolves ACtivity is bACk once more! For those who don't know it, Werewolves of Miller's Hollow is a social deduction game like Maffia. The townsfolk try to find and execute the werewolves who devour one of them every night. The werewolves want to take out the town for their food and safety.
For those who don't survive the chaos (or those who prefer a faster paced game), we have the one night version as well. Or you can chat with some snACks while you watch the chaos evolve.
See you on the 10th! Hugs, AC
Sunday 7 Jan. 22:00 - 22:01
Let us know whether you want to (continue to) receive the Supremum, the magazine of GEWIS, or not. We will send it to all active or first year members by default. ATHENA loves Christmas ⛄ with lots of hot chocolate, glühwein, glitters, Christmas trees, lights, food, and great company. This is why we are organising a great Christmas activity to enjoy together. On the 20th of December, you will be able to make your own Christmas-themed crafts. We will be getting into the Christmas spirit by creating Christmas cards to send to all your friends or family, macrame some Christmas tree ornaments and decorate your own glass candle holder. For the last one, it is advised to bring a glass jar. A clean old peanut butter jar or similar would suffice, as long as a tea light can fit through the top. For the rest, we will give you all the tools to make these Christmas objects. We will also arrange some glühwein 🍷, hot chocolate 🍫, and Christmas snacks for the evening. Join us on the 20th of December at 18:30 in GEWIS to get into the Christmas spirit for just €1,50- for first-year students and €3,50 for other Christmas lovers.
We hope to see you there!
Christmas hugs,
ATHENA 🎄 🦉

Honored public,
It is our great honor and pleasure to inform you that this year, Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas" will once again organize a wonderful and phenomenal weekend that will overwhelmingly be remembered as one of the eight wonders of the world! On the weekend of December eight, nine and ten, we will travel to a beautiful chateau to provide you with both drinks, entertainment, a filled stomach and a place to rest your head.
On Friday we will travel to the beautiful chateau, where you will be received with a warm welcome. Here you will have a chance to recover and change. This will allow you to temporarily leave behind the impoverished life of student life and let the inner Burgundian come to the surface. Thus, a delicious meal will be prepared for you and you will have the luxury of enjoying sublime wines specially selected by true connoisseurs!
Also, this is also the end of the Lustwijnweek and Hèt Dispuut turns twenty years old on the ninth of December! Therefore, we will also celebrate on the night from Friday to Saturday that GEWIS' longest living Fraternity has aged another year. Be especially prepared to celebrate this together with Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas" and cherish this moment. Since this will be a real celebration, we expect everyone present at the venue at 7 p.m. for the evening meal.
On Saturday morning, you will have the opportunity to have a hearty breakfast and pick yourself up after the fantastic night before. However, there will also come a time when you will have to temporarily leave the chateau. Fortunately, even then, Hèt Dispuut knows how to provide an afternoon full of experiences to tell your children about later!
While you will have fun with the Saturday afternoon activity, some members of Hèt Dispuut will stay behind at the chateau, where we will prepare an excellent 7-course dinner that you will enjoy during the evening that follows. Here you will be blessed by the Magnum opus within the culinary world.
Upon your return to the chateau, you will be given the option (read: strong suggestion) to change your attire to clothes that honor what awaits you and fit the decadent level of The Weekend of The Year.
During the dinner, you will be entertained at several moments with entertainment prepared with all love and passion. When people are satiated and the last course is concluded, you will still have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic dinner while sipping the remaining wine, so that everyone can go to sleep content and satisfied. When the sun begins to shine through the windows again and you slowly awaken from your sleep, though perhaps with some difficulty, and you have had a brief opportunity to have breakfast, we will ask you to help (briefly) with cleaning up the chateau. After which you will be free to tie up an end to this wonderful weekend and let it reverberate in your memory forever.
There will be room for 29 men for this majestic weekend, so please register quickly!
With due respect,
Praeses Oosterholt
P.S. Given that driving to the venue is required, please indicate if you are in position to grant your car and bring fellow students. If necessary, people with cars will be given priority on the registration list.
P.P.S. The registration list will open Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. If the 29 spots are filled within the hour, we will draw lots, otherwise we will use a "first come, first serve" rule.
P.P.P.S. Due to manpower, budget and space, we cannot guarantee that all dietary needs will be accommodated. Vegetarian is an option, but vegan probably not. If you have an allergy, we may contact you to discuss it, as we cannot rule out cross-contamination in the kitchen.

Dear reader,
The observant among you may have already noticed that there is a certain thematic twist to our lustrum activities. To celebrate twenty years of Hét Dispuut, we look back at our past and the activities that made our Dispuit so grandiose, obviously with a contemporary twist. So meet a jewel from our rich history: "Met de Fles op Tafel".
For many, "pub quizzing" is a familiar concept, even many an I.V.V'ers do not shy away from putting their inexhaustible knowledge on display. However, we, as gentlemen of Hét Dispuut, feel that an average pub quiz and similar knowledge tests lack something essential; a certain "je ne sais quoi". Just factual knowledge and trivia won't get you very far in life, and we at I.V.V know what's missing: tactical thinking skills. Bluffing, cheating, lying, and all the psychological games involved can make you triumph despite a lack of general knowledge.
Who doesn't want to look their opponent in the stern eye and say, "Of course, I know what the capital of Uzbekistan is"? As long as you are convincing enough and thereby force your opponent to give up, does it matter that it is Tashkent? Of course, it doesn't! What a fantastic feeling that is, so overwhelming that we want to organise the following for you all.
The gentlemen of Hét Dispuut will organise a bluff and knowledge quiz inspired by the highly successful NPO Show "Met het Mes op Tafel". Given the core principles of our fraternity, we will play "Met de Fles op Tafel". In case you are not familiar with the game rules you can find a rough translation here. In addition, the game rules and the course of the game will be clearly explained again at the beginning and during the activity.
Although "I.V.V will provide delicious snacks and wines" sounds like a given, we mention it again to allay any concerns participants may have. Afterwards, there will be a na-borrel, where you can look back on a successful programme together with your quiz masters and fellow participants.
Met hoogachtende groeten,
Dhr. Oosterholt
Praeses der Dispuut "In Vino Veritas"
P.S. This amazing spectacle will take place on 6 December 2023 at GEWIS. Only 25 spots will be available so register early, as the subscription list is first come, first serve.
Tuesday 5 Dec. 2023 19:00 - 22:00
Dear Reader,

Details of the meeting are as follows: Date: five December two thousand and twenty-three Time: from 7 pm to 10 pm Location: GEWIS room "Het Dakterras"
For those who cannot enjoy the food at the Decadent Weekend, or who want to dine in company prior to the meeting, we offer the opportunity to sign up for dinner. We will then serve burgundy mussels. Dinner will start at 17:30, also in the GEWIS room.

Sioux Technologies, high-tech R&D and consultancy partner, will present two Mathware projects:
“Thinking outside of the ‘Box’ à performing a large optimization analysis on historical order data to minimize shipment costs, eliminate air and reduce CO2 footprint!”“Physical simulations have many use cases in industry. Take, for example, Formula 1: to estimate the performance of a car, one can simulate and analyze the flow of air around it. In order to find the optimal design, a general approach is to make tiny changes and see if it improves the flow field. This requires many simulations in little time, while these simulations usually take a lot of computational effort… This is where Model Order Reduction comes in: we will look at methods to simplify the mathematical problem, to greatly improve the computation time of a solution.”Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.

Dear reader,
Many a student has been dreaming of it for months: the opening of our lustwijnweek. A week dedicated to Burgundian enjoyment, wine consumption, and uninhibited fun. During the celebration of our fourth lustrum, Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas" will do everything to ensure that many a student can finally escape their daily rhythm.
The theme of this month'like drink is not entirely surprising, given that Monday 4 December is the global Day of the Cork. A week marked by wine, like our lust wine week, naturally starts with uncorking a bottle!
Of course, there will be some surprises in honour of our lustrum and, as everyone expects, plenty of wine to accompany the evening. The festivities will take place in the usual GEWIS space "Het Dakterras" and will start on Monday 4 December at 17:00. We hope to see you all there for this grandiose celebration!
Met hoogachtende groeten,

It is the Tuesday week after the Tuesday of GLOW, and you know what that means: light art at GEWIS! And how can we do that better than with beer? Are you an experienced and trained borrelaar? Are you able to beat the horns of the Gebroeders Scooter without perishing in the process? And are you able to stay in bed Wednesday morning? Then we summon you for the biggest challenge of the year!
We would like to invite the few fools brave enough to walk down this road with us. There will be new and special light effects provided by AViCo and the ABC, there will be beer provided by the BAC, there will be defeat, and there will be victors. Rise up to the challenge! Raise your shot glass and do your best!
At 18:15, we will start our challenge with a first 100-minute run. After the first battle, we will have a break of about an hour to enjoy some food from Snackcenter Eindhoven. Then, once we all have recovered our inner strength, we will partake in the second 60-minute adventure. Because we start somewhat late, we kindly ask everyone to also snack or eat something beforehand. Also (as implied), please do not drink any alcohol before the activity starts. There are initially 33 spots available, but this might be increased. If the activity is full one hour after the subscription list opens, there will be a draw.
Due to the nature of the activity, we strongly advise that only experienced borrelaars join the activity. If you are unsure, please contact Roy, Gijs or Samuel.

Graph Theory for Fraud Detection at Booking.com - Rajat Saxena Conventional fraud detection has historically been centered around linear relationships between user indicators. The weak point of this setup is that we miss out on transitive relationships, which becomes an increasingly interesting factor when fraudsters reuse few overlapping indicators in new fraud attempts. In this presentation we will show how we developed an in-house technological ecosystem that stores fraud attempts in graph format and leveraged state of the art algorithms to compute innovative graph features that enriches our existing fraud controls (ML models and static rules). Founded in 1996 in Amsterdam, Booking.com has grown from a small Dutch startup to one of the world’s leading digital travel companies. By investing in the technology that helps take the friction out of travel, Booking.com seamlessly connects millions of travelers with memorable experiences, a range of transport options and incredible places to stay – from homes to hotels and much more. Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.

As is customary, the BAC will organize their infamous MAVO-borrel the last Thursday of the exam period. This means you can enjoy a wonderful social drink without care about your exams (hopefully). As is similarly a tradition, the board will provide some breakfast the morning after, whether you are hungover or not. Just drag yourself to the GEWIS room Friday morning, and you will be greeted with all the ingredients you need to get yourself fueled up that day.
Make sure to be there on time, as there isn't unlimited supply of breakfast!
TL;DR: Free breakfast
Thursday 9 Nov. 2023 16:30 - 19:00
The exams are coming to an end, and that means it's time for the MAVO borrel again! Nothing pauper this time, just chic and fancy. GEWIS is leaving for beautiful Las Vegas! Only thing is, gambling is bad for you, so we don't do it with money, but with beer! Spin one of the wheels, bet big on roulette, beat everyone at poker, pull out all your drinking card games and show that you are the king of the casino! But remember, winning is drinking and drinking is winning!

Are you interested in contributing to the open source projects that power GEWIS? Do you want to learn new skills and collaborate with other students and developers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should join the Hactoberfest x ABC activity at GEWIS! Hactoberfest is a global event that celebrates open source software and encourages people to participate in it. The ABC is the committee that manages the software of GEWIS by developing and maintaining various applications and services. Together, we have prepared a special activity for GEWIS members, especially first-years, to get involved in open source and contribute to the projects that power GEWIS. For this activity we have several projects available with easier issues that will help you get acquainted with working on larger open source projects:
GEWIS.nl: should be self-explanatory but the GEWIS website is the go-to place for GEWIS members to read about activities, view photos, and be involved with the assocation. It is written in PHP and uses the Laminas Framework, for more information see the GitHub repository. GEWISDB: the decision and member database, you used this when you joined the association through join.gewis.nl! It is written in PHP and uses the Laminas Framework, for more information see the GitHub repository. SudoSOS backend: you may be already be familiar with our bar system when you bought some food or drinks in the GEWIS room or at a social drink. The backend, written in TypeScript, houses all the logic to make that happen, for more information see the GitHub repository. SudoSOS frontend: the SudoSOS frontend is what you see when you go to sudosos.gewis.nl. It allows you to view your transactions and to top up your balance. The BAC uses it to manage the whole systems, from the products, to the users, and the fines. It is written in TypeScript and is currently being moved to Vue3, see the GitHub repository. SudoSOS POS: the POS (Point of Sale) is the interface that allows you to make purchases within the system. It is on the screens in the kitchen of GEWIS. It is written in TypeScript and is currently being moved to Vue3, see the GitHub repository. Do you think you can help with one of these projects? Sign up to this activity and select your project! Do not worry about needing experience, we are there to help you get started. Also, do not forget to register for Hacktoberfest and to bring your laptop! Want to work on another project? Check GitHub and GitLab for projects that have the hacktoberfest tag and see if you can help there.Tuesday 17 Oct. 2023 12:40 - 13:20
Would you like to know how ING is implementing the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 9? Did you know that it relates to the recognition of an entity’s financial asset/liability in its financial statement and includes an expected credit loss (ECL) framework for recognizing impairment.
The quantification of ECL is often broken down into its three components, namely, - the probability of default (PD), - loss-given default (LGD), - and exposure at default (EAD).
The IFRS 9 standard requires that the ECL model accommodate the influence of the current and the forecasted macroeconomic conditions on credit loss. This enables a determination of forward-looking estimates on impairments.
During the lunch lecture, we will be discussing the approaches we use in the bank to incorporate the forward looking macro-economic information in the IFRS9 expected credit losses models.
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.

On the 9th of October Défi will have their fourth dies! We are very excited to celebrate this event during our dies borrel on the 12th of October. Since we love to go out of our comfort zones, the borrel will have an out of the box dies theme, namely, REINCARNATION! Because what better time is there to think about death and afterlife than on your dies right? :p
We think birthdays are a time to celebrate life and the living. It is a time for festivity. However, such times may also be enhanced by taking a moment to think about what it means to live on. Therefore Défi would love to present you, the borrelaars, with things that might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but possess a certain beauty which can help appreciate life a little more. This leaves one with all the more reason to celebrate and cheer! This borrel will clearly not be any ordinary borrel, and therefore we have some fun extra's for you! There will be a borrelcard available including five in-theme items for the mere price of only €4! But that is not all! There will also be a unique darkroom experience where you can follow a story about life, death and reincarnation. We are very excited to celebrate our dies and hope to see you there during the borrel on October 12! Lilac hugs <3

Monday 9 Oct. 2023 19:00 - 21:30
Do you know the difference between a vulva and a vagina? How much do you know about the human reproductive system? And what can our bodies teach us about our understanding of sex? Join Défi's sex education journey centered around human genitals, presented by two sexology graduates! Not only will you follow an interactive lecture about various (underrepresented) aspects of sex education, we will put our newly gained knowledge in practice by claying vulva's and penises! Of course, you may also clay an erotic sculpture or anything else you wish to sculpt! Did we mention the activity is free???
Background:We all know what our genitals look like, and maybe some of us got to see others as well. But despite sex education being a part of most high school curricula, the general knowledge about our reproductive organs is often lacking. We’re confusing facts with tales, we only know the bare minimum of (heterosexual) intercourse and the anatomy of these organs is a question to most of us. But no worries, Défi has got you covered! Two sexologists will come to GEWIS to give you a crash course on human anatomy, specifically genitals and diversity of human bodies. We will be debunking myths and learning about our own bodies in the interactive session given by these two sexology graduates. But we wouldn’t be Défi, without there being a twist. So afterwards we will put the new learned theory to practice. Here you will get the chance yourself to clay and paint a penis or vagina or any other type of sexual anatomy. All whilst enjoying fun conversation starters, and having the opportunity to ask the sexologists every question you could dream to ask.
So do you want to know more about the human body? Are you curious about the anatomy of reproductive organs? Or do you like to be creative and sculp/paint your own sexual organ? Then make sure to subscribe for the activity! We can’t wait to learn more from experts and we hope to see all of you there at the activity!
Note!: During this activity we would like to create a safe space, in which everyone is respected and consent is highly valued. We want everyone to feel safe during the entirety of the activity, such that we can all learn and have fun together.
Note! There is a maximum capacity of 40 participants.
An "order dinner with us" sign up list (eetlijst) is available, so you can get dinner with us, at your own costs. We will order from Tony's: https://tonyswok.nl/#menu. If you choose Wok, specify [Veggie/Chicken/Pork/etc.] + [Nasi fried rice/Bami noodles/Rice] + [Sauce]!
Lilac hugs,
Défi

UiPath is a leading Robotic Process Automation vendor providing a complete software platform to help organizations efficiently automate business processes. A core component of the UiPath platform is UiPath Process Mining, which helps to discover opportunities for process optimization and Robotic Process Automation through state of the art Process Mining techniques. Some of these state of the art techniques are explored, researched and prototyped through student graduation projects.
An example of such a project is “Visual Conformance Checking”. This technique compares process execution data to the process design, providing businesses with a process “as it runs” versus process “as intended” visual comparison. This conformance information can be leveraged to gain better insights and improve the process, such as through Robotic Process Automations.
In this lunch lecture, Dennis Brons will familiarize you with UiPath, Visual Conformance Checking and the graduation project options available.
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve.

The holiday is over and all of you have been studying (again) inside for way too long. Therefore, B.O.O.M. presents you the B.O.O.M. BuitenBios (Outdoor Cinema) on the day B.O.O.M. receives its 18th year ring.
The evening will be filled with some lovely movies. Alongside these movies, you will be able to enjoy some popcorn and a cold soda or drafted beer by the BAC! Furthermore, B.O.O.M. wouldn't be B.O.O.M. if there would not be a BBQ before the movies at which you will all be able to enjoy a nice hamburger.
We hope to see you on the 19th of September at 17.00 at the Simon Stevin field. We advise you to bring a comfortable stool, since the seats available are limited.

Friday 8 Sep. 2023 17:00 - 21:00
The tradition of vivid discussions and talk about discoveries has been going on for centuries. Professors from all over the country would gather and talk about becoming the next best Plato, Aristotle, or Socrates. Only the highest of society would be part of these lively debates and could bring out the best and worst in the future historic celebrities. Even though the past is the past, people still look up to them for what they have accomplished.
As the fraternity "In Vino Veritas" we are full of accomplished members who once started in GEWIS. One of the many traditions we have set forth throughout the years was organizing the 'Maand'lijksche borrel' (Monthly Social Drink). I.V.V has always appreciated good conversation while being accompanied by a fine glass of wine and a fellow educated person with a fond appreciation of the Burgundian lifestyle. These 'Maand'lijksche borrels' are famously known throughout GEWIS and are some of the very first activities that I.V.V has organized.
Because I.V.V is such a big endorser of bringing the Burgundian lifestyle to GEWIS and likes to continue the tradition, a new 'Maand'lijksche borrel' will take place on the 8th of September! With this 'Maand'lijksche borrel' being the celebration of the new academic year and potency to enrich the minds of academic achievers, I.V.V will bring sparkling wine and a very appetizing appetizer menu to the social drink! So be sure to visit this social drink, starting at 17:00 in the GEWIS room, and enjoy the beverages and delicacies that I.V.V will bring to you! Be like the academia who went before and enjoy an exquisite glass or numerous glasses of wine during this event that everyone must join to experience the luxurious life every proper student deserves! Also, be sure to wear some nice attire so that you may live up to the standards of high society and shine further than the commoners.
Wednesday 6 Sep. 2023 12:35 - 13:20
After a hectic introduction week where you have (hopefully) made a lot of new friends it is time to really start your student life. And no student life without studying. However, you might already heard a lot of concepts you have never heard of, like "Canvas", "MyTimetable", "Plan App" or "Osiris". But don’t be afraid! There is no need to worry. Attending this training will teach you all the basics you need to know to survive all the software at the TU/e.
In case there are more then 100 people that want to attend, there will be a "first come, first serve" policy. In that case the remainder can view the session online.
Don’t forget to bring your laptop!
Tuesday 5 Sep. 2023 12:40 - 13:20
Shubham Rawal will provide an interesting presentation on why he decided to go for the 2 year salaried post-master EngD Software Technology program for technological designers with TU/e, give some nice examples of multidisciplinary group training projects and also elaborate on his individual graduation project ‘Automated Transformation of Picture Archiving and Communication System Reporting Templates to HL7® FHIR® Models’ conducted at ROYAL PHILIPS . His thesis won the Software Technology Award 2023.
At the lunch lecture, you will get a great free sandwich and a free drink!
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve
Saturday 2 Sep. 2023 11:00 - 23:00
On Saturday September 2nd 2023, a group of international Erasmus exchange students will arrive on the TU/e campus to have an amazing introduction day! Those international students are staying here for at least half a year, but they have no knowledge about the Netherlands, Eindhoven, or this university. To help those students feel at home, we are organizing this introduction day!
Each buddy will get a small group of Erasmus students assigned to them to guide them during the day. Therefore, we are looking for you! On the 2nd of September you will meet your buddies in real life and you will guide them during the day. During this intro day, you will have the chance to get to know more people and make friends from all over the world. The intro day will be completely free for you and there will lots of fun activities. We won't spoil too much but there definitely will be a city tour and a pubquiz.
Please register below to get students assigned! Non-GEWIS members that study at the department of M&CS can also subscribe. Be fast, because there are only a limited number of spots. We hope to see you and your buddy this September.
If there are too many subscriptions, we will let you know Friday morning the day before whether your help is required :)
Friday 1 Sep. 2023 19:00 - 22:00
As a new student at this university, you will find yourself lost on numerous occasions. Perhaps you will have trouble finding the right lecture room or perhaps you get lost on your way to a meeting. If only there was a fun way to get to know the layout of the building...
Presenting, LaserTag in MetaForum (Floor 3 edition). Although very limited in expanding your knowledge of getting to know the layout of the building, it is still very cool to be able to LaserTag inside MetaForum! So be sure to join us and tell all your friends about having played LaserTag in one of the coolest buildings on campus!
NOTE: This activity is meant for Master students but Bachelor students can come too. Priority is given to Master students.
Tue. 22 Aug. 2023 (20:00) - Wed. 23 Aug. 2023 (02:00)
It's the second day of the introduction week. Firstyears are still getting used to the campus and the city that surrounds it. With one party to have already taken place, it is time to step it up a notch! On the Tuesday evening, students will find themselves exploring new magical boundries that partying can bring at the Feestfabriek! So be sure to come here as well that night and make it an evening to never forget! Every GEWIS'er is welcome, just make sure you can prove that you are a GEWIS member!
Mon. 21 Aug. 2023 (10:00) - Fri. 25 Aug. 2023 (12:00)
Due to low capacity we, as the Introduction Committee, could use some extra help on Monday and Tuesday during the introduction week. Especially for the business case, campus tour, preparing the BBQ, cleaning the BBQ and the department presentation. If you are interested in helping us out, you can subscribe as volunteer via this form. You are not obligated to be present during all timeslots, even helping out during one of the timeslots would be very appreciated!
Please subscribe here before August 14th. We will let you know when and where we need your help, depending on the amount of subscriptions.
If you help us out, you will gain access to the EPIC department party on Tuesday at the FeestFabriek!
Friday 18 Aug. 2023 10:00 - 14:00
Hello lovely members!
Even though we are in the middle of the summer break, we are also at the end of the interim exam period. This means that the BAC will organize one of their infamous MAVO borrels on Thursday.
And since we all know what comes after a MAVO borrel, the 42nd board will arrange a delicious hangover breakfast in the GEWIS room! There isn't an unlimited amount of hangover food, so be sure to be there on time!
We're looking forward to seeing you there!
xoxoxo,The 42nd Board
Saturday 5 Aug. 2023 11:30 - 18:00
Dear members, now that the exam week is finally over, we are all enjoying our summer vacation and looking forward to all the activities we planned to do. We guess that you are doing the same. While some days might be filled with a nice festival, a vacation far away, or other fun plans. There will also be some days that are still completely empty. If you're still in doubt whether you want to get some well-deserved rest or whether you want to get the most out of your summer break by planning even more activities, Défi is here to make that decision a little easier for you. On Saturday the 5th of August, we will go see the Canal Parade in Amsterdam! The Canal Parade will start at 12:00 from the Scheepvaart, so we will gather around 11:30 at Amsterdam Central Station. The exact details will be communicated to all participants later on. The Canal Parade will end at approximately 18:00. However most streetparties have already started at 16:00 and the main party starts already at 14:00! So we will check some of those as well. Note that if you want to arrive later or leave earlier, that is fine as well! So if you are straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, curious, asexual, pansexual, gender-non-conforming, gender-fluid, non-binary, androgynous, all of the above or nothing from above, make sure that you subscribe!! The festival itself will be completely free of charge. Défi will bring some rainbow decorations, to make sure you are all decorated for the occasion. But it would still be nice to bring your most colorful clothes. Défi will also bring some snacks for everyone! Do note that drinks should be bought by yourself and make sure to buy enough for the whole day in advance. As it is hard to leave the Parade to buy additional drinks. Also note that while the festival is free of charge, you have to pay (and arrange it yourself) for your travel to and from Amsterdam. However, you can get a group retour for a minimum of 7,15 a person*. So if you are interested in joining with this group deal, you can subscribe with that information and you can form groups yourself to buy this group retour. Additional information on the Canal Parade can be found in this website: canal-parade, additional information about the street parties can be found here: street-parties or you could watch last years aftermovie: aftermovie to get a good impression of the Parade itself. We hope to see all of you on the 5th of August!! In case there are any questions or remarks, feel free to contact any member of Défi or mail to defi@gewis.nl ! Hugs from Défi! *There are some terms and conditions regarding the NS group retour including that you have to take the same train as your main traveller and need to have the same destination (starting point does not matter). For all information you can look on the website of the NS: groepsticket
Thursday 13 Jul. 2023 16:30 - 20:00
After a year of studying and telling your parents how much you loved your time here, especially the BAC borrels, it is time to let your parents experience the same. On the 13th of July, the BAC will organize the 'Os pa en ma borrel', which is Brabants for 'Dad and mom borrel'. As the name explains, you can bring your parents to enjoy a nice cold Grolsch (or a cold soda!) together with your fellow studymates. Next to that, the BAC will make sure there is some food that your parents can prepare, just like they do at home for you. So invite your parents and have a beer with them!
Tuesday 11 Jul. 2023 17:00 - 20:00
Dear GEWIS'ers,
Now that the weather is getting better and the only freshness you can find around you is your glass of wine, the time has come again to throw some balls.
As after 3 long years of waiting, the Fraternity "In Vino Veritas" will once again host the legendary "Spel met Ballen" and naturally while you are playing, we at "In Vino Veritas" will make sure that you are never short on wine and delicacies.
Together with a partner, you are able to subscribe in order to participate in the official "Spel met Ballen" tournament and battle other teams for a chance to win the challenge cup. Beware though, the subscription list closes the Sunday before the activity.
We hope to see you on the field, Fraternity "In Vino Veritas"
Friday 7 Jul. 2023 11:00 - 14:00
Hello lovely members of GEWIS!
You are all invited to join the last Hangover Breakfast of the year! The breakfast will be held on the day after the inauguration drink of the 42nd board. This means the room will be dirty, the board will be very hungover, and there will be no furniture to eat from.
I don't have to tell you; you don't want to miss this of course! We hope to see you then!
Love, The 41st board
Note: We will not have unlimited food so it might be gone if you arrive late. Next to this, we are sure the board would be very happy if you want to help them a bit after your breakfast.
Thursday 6 Jul. 2023 16:00 - 21:00
On the 6th of July, we will host the inauguration drink for the 42nd board of GEWIS! During the inauguration drink, a lot of external associations, the department board, GEWIS bodies and members can come to congratulate the new board. We will celebrate their installation with a night full of free beers and amazing memories.
For the inauguration drink, we do need a lot of volunteers. We have to empty the room, protect the board and guestbook during the drink and bring the board home after the drink. We would like to know whether you are available for any of these tasks. Please note: bringing the board home means you are sober. If you are available, please fill in this form.
The obligatory infomeeting, at which everything about the order committee will be explained, takes place on Thursday June 22nd from 12:40 till 13:20. The location will be announced later!
Note that for non-volunteers, the borrel starts around 19:00 (the internal part).
If you have any remaining questions, send a mail to orde@gewis.nl.
Mon. 3 Jul. 2023 (14:00) - Fri. 4 Aug. 2023 (14:00)
Every year, the introduction committee needs intro parents to house all new students. In this form, you will be able to subscribe to the introduction week as a introduction parent. The introduction week is from 21/08/2023 until 25/08/2023. This means that you HAVE to be available during those times. Next to that, there will also be a training day during the holidays where you need to be present. This day is on the Saturday before the intro week, so 19/08/2023. If you are currently studying, you can be an intro parent! You don't need to be a GEWIS member. If you are not able to find a fellow intro parent, no need to worry! You can subscribe now on your own and we can find you a partner! Take note, this year we are using a different selection from last year. Make sure you include why you want to become an intro parent as well as why you think you would be a good intro parent, as this is one of the criteria we will be using. You don't need to write an entire essay, a few sentences is more than enough! Since the deadline has been extended, the subscriptions are now on a first come, first serve basis! Subscribe here!
