Hey first-year students! This meeting will mark the start of the new First Year Committees! To join an FYC, make sure to attend this meeting in Neuron 0.266. Every first-year student is welcome! In this meeting, you will form groups that become this year's FYCs, and there will be some time to brainstorm about your name (and theme if you want). Last week, there was an information meeting where I discussed what it means to be in an FYC, after which two FYCs from last year talked about their experiences. If you were not able to attend this meeting, you can almost always find me in the GEWIS room, or send me an email (cib@gewis.nl) and I will gladly talk to you about FYCs. In short An FYC is a committee that is made up of first-year students. This means that the workload will be low, since it is mostly aimed at getting to know each other and having fun! As a committee, you can set up an activity like a chess tournament, a movie night, or something completely different! Get creative with it! Besides this, you can earn FYC points by going to activities, joining our borrels (social drinks), passing courses, and much more! There will be something for the FYC with the most points. If you cannot join this meeting, but would like to, please reach out to me!

Good at mathematics? Or better at drinking? Prove it by joining the GEBEP Math & Beer Race! Earn as many points as possible before the time runs out by solving mathematical problems, doing drinking tasks, or by completing other challenges. Will your team end up on top and take home one of the prizes? (Note: you can participate without drinking alcohol and still obtain the maximum score.) There will be plenty of free snacks and soda, and on top of that every participant gets three free beers from GEWIS! Additional beers can be bought using your GEWIS SudoSOS account. During this general members meeting, the following will take place: An update will be given by AVW191, The 42nd board will propose changes to the Eternal Memorandum regarding the sponsoring updates at the GMMs. There will be a vote on implementing these changes. The 42nd board will present a contract for a collaboration with Stadscafé Spijker. There will be a vote on if the board is allowed to sign such a contract. The Advisory Board will give an update on the current status. There will be a vote about installing and discharging members from the Advisory Board. There will be a vote about installing new members to the KCC24. There will be a vote on some budgets Relevant documents can be found on this page or will become available online as soon as possible. As you might already have noticed, GEWIS organizes a lot of activities. They are organized by our wonderful committee and fraternity members. As a first year student, you can become part of a First Year Committee (FYC) to set up your own activities with fellow students from your year! These committies are designed to connect first year students with each other, and the rest of the association, and they can teach you many new skills. If you worry that the workload would be too much combined with your studies, you should know that there are no obligations, it is mostly about enjoying your year and getting to know the association! The holiday is over and all of you have been studying (again) inside for way too long. Therefore, B.O.O.M. presents you the B.O.O.M. BuitenBios (Outdoor Cinema) on the day B.O.O.M. receives its 18th year ring. The evening will be filled with some lovely movies. Alongside these movies, you will be able to enjoy some popcorn and a cold soda or drafted beer by the BAC! Furthermore, B.O.O.M. wouldn't be B.O.O.M. if there would not be a BBQ before the movies at which you will all be able to enjoy a nice hamburger. The tradition of vivid discussions and talk about discoveries has been going on for centuries. Professors from all over the country would gather and talk about becoming the next best Plato, Aristotle, or Socrates. Only the highest of society would be part of these lively debates and could bring out the best and worst in the future historic celebrities. Even though the past is the past, people still look up to them for what they have accomplished. As the fraternity "In Vino Veritas" we are full of accomplished members who once started in GEWIS. One of the many traditions we have set forth throughout the years was organizing the 'Maand'lijksche borrel' (Monthly Social Drink). I.V.V has always appreciated good conversation while being accompanied by a fine glass of wine and a fellow educated person with a fond appreciation of the Burgundian lifestyle. These 'Maand'lijksche borrels' are famously known throughout GEWIS and are some of the very first activities that I.V.V has organized. Because I.V.V is such a big endorser of bringing the Burgundian lifestyle to GEWIS and likes to continue the tradition, a new 'Maand'lijksche borrel' will take place on the 8th of September! With this 'Maand'lijksche borrel' being the celebration of the new academic year and potency to enrich the minds of academic achievers, I.V.V will bring sparkling wine and a very appetizing appetizer menu to the social drink! So be sure to visit this social drink, starting at 17:00 in the GEWIS room, and enjoy the beverages and delicacies that I.V.V will bring to you! Be like the academia who went before and enjoy an exquisite glass or numerous glasses of wine during this event that everyone must join to experience the luxurious life every proper student deserves! Also, be sure to wear some nice attire so that you may live up to the standards of high society and shine further than the commoners.

After a hectic introduction week where you have (hopefully) made a lot of new friends it is time to really start your student life. And no student life without studying. However, you might already heard a lot of concepts you have never heard of, like "Canvas", "MyTimetable", "Plan App" or "Osiris". But don’t be afraid! There is no need to worry. Attending this training will teach you all the basics you need to know to survive all the software at the TU/e. In case there are more then 100 people that want to attend, there will be a "first come, first serve" policy. In that case the remainder can view the session online. Don’t forget to bring your laptop!

Shubham Rawal will provide an interesting presentation on why he decided to go for the 2 year salaried post-master EngD Software Technology program for technological designers with TU/e, give some nice examples of multidisciplinary group training projects and also elaborate on his individual graduation project ‘Automated Transformation of Picture Archiving and Communication System Reporting Templates to HL7® FHIR® Models’ conducted at ROYAL PHILIPS . On Saturday September 2nd 2023, a group of international Erasmus exchange students will arrive on the TU/e campus to have an amazing introduction day! Those international students are staying here for at least half a year, but they have no knowledge about the Netherlands, Eindhoven, or this university. To help those students feel at home, we are organizing this introduction day! Each buddy will get a small group of Erasmus students assigned to them to guide them during the day. Therefore, we are looking for you! On the 2nd of September you will meet your buddies in real life and you will guide them during the day. During this intro day, you will have the chance to get to know more people and make friends from all over the world. The intro day will be completely free for you and there will lots of fun activities. We won't spoil too much but there definitely will be a city tour and a pubquiz. As a new student at this university, you will find yourself lost on numerous occasions. Perhaps you will have trouble finding the right lecture room or perhaps you get lost on your way to a meeting. If only there was a fun way to get to know the layout of the building... Presenting, LaserTag in MetaForum (Floor 3 edition). Although very limited in expanding your knowledge of getting to know the layout of the building, it is still very cool to be able to LaserTag inside MetaForum! So be sure to join us and tell all your friends about having played LaserTag in one of the coolest buildings on campus! NOTE: This activity is meant for Master students but Bachelor students can come too. Priority is given to Master students.

It's the second day of the introduction week. Firstyears are still getting used to the campus and the city that surrounds it. With one party to have already taken place, it is time to step it up a notch! On the Tuesday evening, students will find themselves exploring new magical boundries that partying can bring at the Feestfabriek! Dear members, now that the exam week is finally over, we are all enjoying our summer vacation and looking forward to all the activities we planned to do. We guess that you are doing the same. While some days might be filled with a nice festival, a vacation far away, or other fun plans. There will also be some days that are still completely empty. If you're still in doubt whether you want to get some well-deserved rest or whether you want to get the most out of your summer break by planning even more activities, Défi is here to make that decision a little easier for you. On Saturday the 5th of August, we will go see the Canal Parade in Amsterdam! The Canal Parade will start at 12:00 from the Scheepvaart, so we will gather around 11:30 at Amsterdam Central Station. The exact details will be communicated to all participants later on. The Canal Parade will end at approximately 18:00. However most streetparties have already started at 16:00 and the main party starts already at 14:00! So we will check some of those as well. Note that if you want to arrive later or leave earlier, that is fine as well! So if you are straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, curious, asexual, pansexual, gender-non-conforming, gender-fluid, non-binary, androgynous, all of the above or nothing from above, make sure that you subscribe!! The festival itself will be completely free of charge. Défi will bring some rainbow decorations, to make sure you are all decorated for the occasion. But it would still be nice to bring your most colorful clothes. Défi will also bring some snacks for everyone! Do note that drinks should be bought by yourself and make sure to buy enough for the whole day in advance. As it is hard to leave the Parade to buy additional drinks. Also note that while the festival is free of charge, you have to pay (and arrange it yourself) for your travel to and from Amsterdam. After a year of studying and telling your parents how much you loved your time here, especially the BAC borrels, it is time to let your parents experience the same. On the 13th of July, the BAC will organize the 'Os pa en ma borrel', which is Brabants for 'Dad and mom borrel'. As the name explains, you can bring your parents to enjoy a nice cold Grolsch (or a cold soda!) together with your fellow studymates. Next to that, the BAC will make sure there is some food that your parents can prepare, just like they do at home for you. So invite your parents and have a beer with them!

Dear GEWIS'ers, Now that the weather is getting better and the only freshness you can find around you is your glass of wine, the time has come again to throw some balls. As after 3 long years of waiting, the Fraternity "In Vino Veritas" will once again host the legendary "Spel met Ballen" and naturally while you are playing, we at "In Vino Veritas" will make sure that you are never short on wine and delicacies. Together with a partner, you are able to subscribe in order to participate in the official "Spel met Ballen" tournament and battle other teams for a chance to win the challenge cup. Hello lovely members of GEWIS! You are all invited to join the last Hangover Breakfast of the year! The breakfast will be held on the day after the inauguration drink of the 42nd board. This means the room will be dirty, the board will be very hungover, and there will be no furniture to eat from. I don't have to tell you; you don't want to miss this of course! On the 6th of July, we will host the inauguration drink for the 42nd board of GEWIS! During the inauguration drink, a lot of external associations, the department board, GEWIS bodies and members can come to congratulate the new board. We will celebrate their installation with a night full of free beers and amazing memories. For the inauguration drink, we do need a lot of volunteers. We have to empty the room, protect the board and guestbook during the drink and bring the board home after the drink. We would like to know whether you are available for any of these tasks. Please note: bringing the board home means you are sober. If you are available, please fill in this form. The obligatory infomeeting, at which everything about the order committee will be explained, takes place on Thursday June 22nd from 12:40 till 13:20. The location will be announced later! Every year, the introduction committee needs intro parents to house all new students. In this form, you will be able to subscribe to the introduction week as a introduction parent. The introduction week is from 21/08/2023 until 25/08/2023. This means that you HAVE to be available during those times. Next to that, there will also be a training day during the holidays where you need to be present. This day is on the Saturday before the intro week, so 19/08/2023. If you are currently studying, you can be an intro parent! You don't need to be a GEWIS member. If you are not able to find a fellow intro parent, no need to worry! You can subscribe now on your own and we can find you a partner! Take note, this year we are using a different selection from last year. Make sure you include why you want to become an intro parent as well as why you think you would be a good intro parent, as this is one of the criteria we will be using.
