Are you disappointed that the Batavierenrace is not happening this year? Do not worry! The Member lustrum week has you covered with our very own version of the Batavierenrace; the Batabierenrace.
Starting from Europe’s smartest square kilometer—the High Tech Campus—you’ll run alongside the beautiful Dommel river, finishing at the iconic Markthal on the Eindhoven University of Technology campus. This scenic trail is around 6km long, and you’ll tackle it with a buddy.
But what’s the Batavierenrace without an epic party? Sadly, we are a bit limited on resources, but we have got something just as exciting planned. Inspired by the legendary Scooter brothers and their “100 shots, 100 hits, 100 toeters, 100 keer escalatie,” we present: "6 beers, 6 kilometers, 6 adtjes voor onderweg."
The challenge? Run the 6 kilometer trail with your buddy and a crate of 12 beers. There are only three rules:
Finish the trail. Finish your crate by the end of the trail. Drink two beers per kilometer. How you achieve these goals is up to you, as long as you do not waste any drinks. Fail to follow the rules? You may face consequences!
Not into drinking? No problem! You can still join the fun without alcohol or opt for an alcohol-free crate to run with.
So, are you ready to run, drink, and make some unforgettable memories? Subscribe to the Batabierenrace as soon as possible!
Continue readingIt is the Tuesday of after GLOW, and you know what that means: light art at GEWIS! And how can we do that better than with beer? Are you an experienced and trained borrelaar? Are you able to beat the horns of the Gebroeders Scooter without perishing in the process? And are you able to stay in bed Wednesday morning? Then we summon you for the biggest challenge of the year!
We would like to invite the few fools brave enough to walk down this road with us. There will be new and special light effects provided by AViCo and the ABC, there will be beer provided by the BAC, there will be defeat, and there will be victors. Rise up to the challenge! Raise your shot glass and do your best!
At 18:00, we will start our challenge with a first 100-minute run. After the first battle, we will have a break of about an hour to enjoy some food from Snackcenter Eindhoven. Then, once we all have recovered our inner strength, we will partake in the second 100-minute adventure.
Because we start somewhat late, we kindly ask everyone to also snack or eat something beforehand. Also (as implied), please do not drink any alcohol before the activity starts. There are initially 30 spots available, but this might be increased. If the activity is full one hour after the subscription list opens, there will be a draw.
Due to the nature of the activity, we strongly advise that only experienced borrelaars join the activity. If you are unsure, please contact the Member lustrum week initiative.

Continue readingEach year the (old-)treasurers of GEWIS go on a weekend away to celebrate their function. This year they went to Schiedam, the capital city of the jenever. Here they learned all about jenever, what it is, how it is distilled, the different kinds of jenever, whether the Bokma is already cold, and much more.
That is why we want to transfer this knowledge to all other GEWIS members on this first day of the Member lustrum week. At this jenever tasting you have the opportunity to taste 6 different jenevers (and relatives), while enjoying a bite and an informative talk about the particular drink.
Unfortunately we cannot provide the jenevers for free, that is why we ask for a contribution of €11,- to cover the costs.
Note that there is space for only 30 people to join, so make sure to sign up soon!

Are you a student with a passion for technology and nature? Then this is your chance to make an impact! In collaboration with Natuurmonumenten, we are organizing a hackathon where you can shape the future of nature management.
🔎 The challenge: forest rangers of Natuurmonumenten monitor all kinds of animal species, but this is still often done with pen and paper. This can be done faster and smarter. You will work with your team to develop an app that allows forest rangers to enter data directly in the field: from spotting animal species to recording locations and numbers.
🐾 Your mission: Help Natuurmonumenten modernize their nature management. Develop an app that makes counting animal species, analyzing populations, and registering nuisance easier and more efficient. Together we will harmonize this registration, so that forest rangers and ecologists gain more insight into nature management in the Netherlands.
🌿 Why participate?
Work on a real case with a big impact.Get guidance from an enthusiastic ecologist, working in the Veluwe, who will support you during the hackathon.Combine your tech skills with your love for nature.Get a chance to win cool prizes and build something that can really be used by Natuurmonumenten.💡 What can you contribute? Whether you are a developer, a UX designer or a data analyst, your skills are indispensable! Together we will build a digital tool that takes the work of forest rangers to a higher level.
Make sure you are there and make a difference for nature!
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are spots for 50 teams of 3 people. So a maximum of 150 people can subscribe. Spots are given with first come first serve and GEWIS members and groups of 3 get priority. You can still subscribe with smaller teams. If you are looking for a team use team name "Looking for a team" and we will assign you to a team. You can earn 1 my future activity with this lecture.

Continue readingAt the Eindhoven office of UiPath, we are mainly focusing on the Process Mining product. However, Process Mining is only one of the products in the broader suite. Other products focus, for example, on robots that automate tasks or help you process documents with AI. Process Mining projects are usually using data from source systems, but recently we have worked on a project that is using our own data. We combine data from the source systems with data generated by using UiPath automations. In this lunch lecture, Celine Verhoef will walk you through the process from design to implementation.

Here you can join to study on your own, or together with other students. There will also be some older students present to help you with any question that you might have. You can use this time any way you want, just to study on your own or ask questions!
If you would like to join, please subscribe as it is nice for us to have an indication how many people will join, and there is an maximum amount of 70 spots. If the list fills up, the draw will be held on a first come first serve basis.
Continue readingThere is a lot you can do in half a minute. You could crACk some mACadamia nuts, fACt check your friends, or play a round of 30 Seconds! The latter is the most fun of course, so we decided to turn 30 Seconds an ACtivity.
For the people who don't know 30 seconds, here's a quick explanation. You play in teams (or subscribe alone to be paired up with a random other player). When it's your team's turn, one teammate gets a card with 5 words (or names, phrases etc). That teammate gets 30 seconds to describe these words to their team. They are not allowed to use the words themselves, parts of them (words like 'and' and 'the' are fine), or translations. 'Sounds like' hints are not allowed either. Your team earns a step forward on the board for every guessed word. There is a die as well that reduces the steps forward by 0, 1, or 2 steps. The goal of the game is to reach the finish line first. We will play in English with self-made cards. As we will still need to something to play on, we kindly ask you if you would be willing to bring your (Dutch) 30 Seconds board game.
If you're the type of person who enjoys playing a fun game with GEWIS friends (and maybe make some new ones in the process), you do not want to miss this! If you enjoy tasty snACks, we will provide those as well.
It is also possible to join us for dinner at 17.45h in the GEWIS room. We will order Fuso Wok. You can add your "Wok"-dish to the "Eating List" sign-up on this ACtivity before the 15th of October at 13:42. You can pay using a debit/credit card.
See you there!
Hugs,
the AC
Continue readingDuring this lunch lecture, Arno and Pebble will give a presentation about the mathematical consulting work that is done at Sioux Mathware. After a general introduction of the company, two projects will be presented: Arno will discuss work that we did to optimize garbage collection in Amsterdam. Although this may sound simple on first glance, many factors can be considered, such as the time at which Ajax plays their matches, making this a very interesting optimization problem.
After that, Pebble will talk about the internship that she is currently doing at Mathware. She has looked into using generative machine learning to create realistic X-ray images from simulated data. As this is a project in the medical domain, it is very important to make sure that no relevant information is altered that could lead to a misdiagnosis. Additionally, she can tell you all about what doing an internship at Sioux Mathware looks like.

Continue readingPOV: You are a first-year international student in a new country with all new people around you. You need to adapt to Dutch culture and don't get any chance to show off your own. Luckily for you, that time has passed.
During this amazing evening you can show everyone that your country also knows how to party! You can dress up however you want to represent your culture and show off your favorite traditional dance moves.
You will get a nice welcome shot when you enter. Make sure to come on time though because the first 100 beers are free!
Enjoy the music (which we will make sure is not all Dutch, don't worry), and party with your friends (who you should also encourage to buy a ticket). Show us your heritage!

P.S. You don't have to be a first-years, please still come if you aren't :)
Continue readingHello GEWIS members!
The time has finally come: to finish Défi's spectacular first lustrum week, we have put all of our enthusiasm and time into organizing our first external GEWIS weekend, dedicated to our lustrum.
We wouldn't be Défi if we made subscribing to our weekend somewhat out of your comfort zone, which is why we are keeping the location a secret, as well as the activities that are planned for the weekend. Are you willing to take that risk with us?
For GEWIS members the weekend will cost 55 euros. For graduates this price is doubled, leading to 110 euros. What you will get for this, is the following. Of course, a two-nights-stay at a beautiful location is included. On Friday evening, we will have a buffet at the location. Both on Saturday and Sunday morning, there will be breakfast provided by the location. Furthermore, we have two activities organized for you throughout the weekend.
Note that we will go to the location using public transportation. We accounted for this on the budget, so don't be afraid that you will need to pay more if you don't have a weekend-free subscription.
If this sounds like music in your ears, don't hesitate to subscribe, since we would love to take you on our exciting first lustrum weekend!
With mystical regards,
Défi
There is a limited capacity of 23 spots for this weekend. It is in principle a first come first serve activity. If more than 23 people are subscribed on Sunday August 4th at 23:59, a draw will be done between the people who are subscribed at that point.
Continue readingDear members, Mark your calendars, because Thursday, October 9th is a night you do not want to miss! We are coming together to celebrate our first lustrum in style, and what better way to do it than with a cosmic twist? Get ready for an unforgettable evening, with our Défi Destiny Dies Drink
As the stars align, we’re excited to welcome a fortune teller who will be gazing into the future to reveal what the universe has in store. Rumor has it, his/her/their readings may suggest a sky full of shots in our near future—so keep your eyes on the horizon!
But that’s not all. To help you cool down from the heat of the celebration, we’ll have some refreshing slush puppies on hand to quench your thirst and make sure everyone stays comfortably chill throughout the night.
Whether you’re coming for the fun, the fortune-telling, or just a taste of stellar drinks, this evening promises to be out of this world!
Love and hugs Défi
Continue readingWe hope you have been enjoying the Défi lustrum week so far and that you are not too hungover from yesterdays cantus! 🍻
To help you start the day and prepare your stomach for our upcoming borrel this afternoon we provide you with a very yummy hangover breakfast (or brunch, depends who’s asking)!
Ofcourse, we would not be Défi if this brunch was not a bit outside the box so don't expect the classic hangover breakfast sandwiches 🥪. However, this brunch will be just as good or maybe even better! Did we already mention it's free? Even more reason to join us! 💜
Subscription is not mandatory, but helps us get an estimate of how many people will join the breakfast. If a lot of people walk in without subscribing, people with a subscription will get preference.
We have a vegetarian option 🌱, but we can unfortunately not take into account other food preferences. Hope to see you there :)
Hugs, Defi
Continue readingThe day has finally arrived, the day we've all been waiting for... Défi turns 5 years old today! Naturally, this day has to be celebrated big, and what is a better celebration than singing songs together on our birthday? As a 5-year-old, Défi loves to dress up for a masquerade cantus, which you can join us for on this beautiful, yet mystical Wednesday, October 9th. Knowing Défi, this cantus will not be like other cantusses you've joined in the past, and one change in that is the type of drink: aside from the regular beer, you can also join this cantus while drinking paardenkut (a mix of Apfelkorn and sparkling water)! It has to be noted, though, that there is no possibility to switch between beer and paardenkut during the cantus. Of course, you can also join this cantus with a water ticket.
To obtain a ticket, make sure to approach a Défi member or the board, and we'll see you at our masquerade cantus on the 9th of October!
With mystical regards, Dispuut Défi
P.S.: The cantus itself starts at 19 o'clock, but the doors open at 18:45. Be on time, otherwise the praesidium is not happy...
Note: There are 70 tickets available for this activity. When it's sold out, it's sold out. You can get a ticket from another person if they decide to cancel, but mention that to a Défi member so they can change the name on the subscription list.
Remark: In the costs, b/pk stands for beer/paardenkut, and w stands for water.
Continue readingDo you want to navigate throught a life-size version of our maze? Usually seen on the shirts of our feutjes, this time, we’re bringing it to life. See how quickly you can work through the maze to find the exit, but be prepared—challenges and obstacles will lie in your path 🔮. The maze can get tight ⚰️, dark, and you might even find yourself crawling to make it through!
The fastest team to complete the maze with the highest number of points will win a special prize 🏆. Do you have what it takes to beat the maze? Come find out your fortune 🪬!
Sign up with your group of 3 and choose a time slot that suits you best. You can also walk into the activity without a subscription, but groups signed up for the timeslot will have an advantage!
With mystical regards, Dispuut Défi
Continue readingOn this afternoon, the Défi lustrum week will officially start! And the bravest among us will join Défi on an abseiling adventure of Vertigo! This is the chance to challenge our natural fear of heights, and to see the campus from a whole new perspective. While that sounds exciting, we understand it can be scary to step out of your comfort zone. But you don’t have to worry, because once you have successfully completed the abseil, Défi, Wolfpack and the BAC will welcome you back on the ground with a nice cold drink in your hand. We will gather all the victors and celebrate their succes at this victory borrel.
There is also good news for those who were unable to participate in the abseiling activity. The victory borrel is open for all GEWIS members so that we can celebrate the succes stories together. At the start of the borrel, you can even watch the last group making their way down Vertigo. Meanwhile, Wolfpack will make sure that there are some nice beers and sodas while cheering the last group on (rumour has it that they bought a keg for you all).
So whether you want to celebrate our lustrum, your abseiling succes or if you want to cheer the victors on from a distance, we hope to see you at the borrel!
(Do note that you can not drink alcohol before you go abseiling!! If you do, you are no longer allowed to go abseiling.)
Continue readingDear member,
Picture this: you, standing at the top of one of the tallest buildings on campus, heart racing, as you prepare to descend into the thrill of a lifetime. Five years ago, Défi organized abseiling from Vertigo, which was the final step for Défi to become a fraternity.
Soon, Défi will turn five years old. To kick off our Lustrum week, we are going to abseil from Vertigo again in collaboration with the Eindhoven Student Alpine Club (ESAC) and Wolfpack!
But the excitement doesn’t end when your feet touch the ground! Once you’ve successfully made your descent, you’ll be welcomed back with a well-earned borrel. Gather with fellow adventurers, share your stories of triumph, and toast to an unforgettable day. Rumour has it that Wolfpack has bought a keg for you all.
Note that there are only 90 spots available, so be quick to subscribe! If there are more subscriptions before Thursday, September 26, 23:59, there will be a draw. You can indicate whether you prefer the morning or afternoon, based on which we will get a timeslot assigned. However, please keep this date as open as possible in your schedule.
Curious what this will look like? Read and see what it looked like five years ago!

Set your course for a grand adventure across the serene waters of Loosdrecht, where the wind will be our guide and the sails our wings. Step aboard the trusty Polyvalk, a sturdy vessel fit for both seasoned sailors and eager newcomers alike. With room for up to five souls per boat, there’s space for everyone, whether you wish to take the helm or simply relax and soak in the beauty of the day.
With several experienced sailors on board, you'll be in good hands throughout the voyage. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor yourself or completely new to the waters, there’s no need to worry—we’ll guide you through every step of the way. You’ll have the freedom to take part as much or as little as you like. If the weather is kind, take a refreshing dip in the lake or just sit back and enjoy the ride from the comfort of the boat. And don’t worry—if swimming isn’t for you, you can stay dry and still enjoy the adventure!
At midday, we’ll chart a course to a charming island for a well-deserved lunch break. Picture yourself stepping ashore, the sun shining overhead, surrounded by the calm of nature. We’ll relax, share stories, and enjoy good company as we take in the views and savor our meal.
No previous sailing experience is required to join this voyage—it’s all about having a good time on the water, no matter your skill level. So gather your friends, bring your sense of adventure, and prepare for a memorable day!
We’re making travel arrangements, and if we can gather enough cars, we’ll drive together to Loosdrecht. Otherwise, we’ll hop on public transport and make the journey part of the adventure.
Fair winds and smooth sailing await. Will you answer the call?
See you there! GEZWEM
Continue readingThroughout your academic career, you will need to use LaTeX many many times. Now, there are two paths you can take; get to know LaTeX, fall in love, get married, and live happily together throughout your studies. Or, refuse to use LaTeX until you are forced to, at which point you will be confused, disoriented, and frustrated with it. I think we both know which of those two options is preferable.
As a mathematics student, you will need to use LaTeX already in the first quartile, but computer science students will have to use it as well later this year. To prepare you properly for this, TRAIN is organizing a LaTeX training, during which you will be guided through the basics of how to use it for your homework assignments. All you need to bring is your laptop!
To keep your body fueled, we will provide some free snacks and drinks. We look forward to seeing you there!

Continue readingData in the Built Environment – Why nothing has changed in 2000 years
Have you ever wondered why every building project goes over budget and does not meet its original planning? Or why that annoying pothole in front of your home never gets fixed? I (Sander de Meij, from BIM-Connected) suggest that’s because the Built Environment has not really changed that much since the first time we started making buildings thousands of years ago.
Part of this issue is the incredibly inefficient way the Built Environment implements data, digital tools and other ‘smart’ solutions. We at BIM-Connected help this industry to move into the future by implementing intelligent data solutions using Linked Data and the Semantic Web.
Do you want to learn more about Linked Data in general (or specifically within the Built Environment) or how we have built an exciting piece of software which allows us to build data-driven applications in minutes? Join us during this lunch lecture to discuss what it means to be a ‘knowledge engineer’ or a dedicated software engineer within the Built Environment.
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve and GEWIS members get priority. You can earn 1 my future activity with this lecture.

Continue readingHey first-years!
Today, on this fateful day, a most wonderful event will occur: the new First Year Committees will be formed! Last week, on Thursday, I organised a nice information meeting in which I explained what FYCs are, and let several FYCs from last year share their experiences. If you missed it and would still like to know more about FYCs, you can almost always find me in GEWIS, and I'm always up for a quick chat about them!
If I'd have to summarise the concept of an FYC really quickly, I'd do it as follows: It's essentially a group of first-years, with the main goal of getting to know each other and having a lot of fun. It also offers the opportunity to, as a group, get to know GEWIS a bit better, go to fun activities, and making friends that will stay with you for the rest of your studies.
During this meeting, you'll form groups that will afterwards become our new FYCs, and get some time to brainstorm a name for your group, as well as other fun ideas that you might want to do throughout the year. I hope to see you all there!
If you would like to join this meeting but are unable to, or decide later that you would still like to join an FYC, please contact me!
Continue readingDo you love tea, cakes or fun games? Do you want different tea flavours than the ones at GEWIS? If so, on Tuesday the 24th of September from 18.00 to 21.00 your dreams will come true! We have just the activity for you: ATHENA's High Tea Tuesday. We will provide you with tea bags and some fresh ingredients you need to make your own perfect blend. And don't worry, we will also provide multiple black tea flavours. Not a tea lover? No problem! You can get your favourite drinks yourself at your own cost from the bar and still join in on the fun and snacks.
I hear you thinking, how much will this all cost? Well, it is totally free, the only thing you need to do is bake or bring snacks to share with the group. So you can bring along a sweet or savoury snack like brownies or mini sandwiches. In addition, ATHENA will also bake two amazing cakes for everyone to try!
Warm hugs,

Continue readingHey first-years!
During the introduction week you might have heard someone (probably Jens) talk about First Year Committees (FYCs). These committees are mainly meant for first-year students to connect with each other and provide an easy way for you to get to know the association a bit better.
Aside from the social aspects of FYCs, they also allow you to learn a lot of new skills, like organising activities, leading meetings, taking minutes, and many others. Don't be worried about the workload though, as FYCs have no real obligations; the main goal of them is to help you enjoy your year, so you can put as much time as you feel like you have into them.
During this meeting, I'll give you a brief explanation on how FYCs work, and some FYCs from last year will also join to share experiences from their committees. There will also be free lunch for everyone attending! I hope to see you there.
NOTE: Attending this meeting is without obligations! You can always choose not to join an FYC afterwards.

Continue readingFlunkyball is a game where two teams compete against eACh other. You and your team stand on one side of the field next to eACh other, with a CAnned drink in front of eACh person. In the middle of the field stands a bottle. Each team takes turns trying to knock over the bottle with a ball. If the bottle is toppled, the whole team CAn start drinking until the opponents have set the bottle upright again, brought the ball back behind their line, and all players are standing by their CAns again. The team that finishes drinking all their CAns first wins.
So, do you want to prove you're the best at chugging, show off your aim, or just feel like playing Flunkyball? Sign up now! You CAn join with half-liter CAns of beer (6% alcohol), radler (3% alcohol), or soft drinks.
The idea is to form 4 teams. The winners of the first match will play in the winners' final, and the losers will also get an extra game. The €5 contribution is to buy 6 CAns, which should be enough for two games as long as you don’t get too many penalty CAns. If there are CAns left at the end of the game, there will be room for some extra matches after the competition.
There is no food list for the event, but the AC will be grabbing a kapsalon at Hizmet at 18:00 before setting up the ACtivity. So feel free to join us for dinner there!
See you then! Hugs, AC

We'll kick things off with an introduction to our company and how we approach solving real-world problems. Then, we'll dive into an exciting cryptocurrency project we’ve worked on. Continue readingAre you having a calculus entrance test on September 5th but you are not yet sure where to eat beforehand? No worries! AViCo organizes the Frietkarborrel, a social drink where you can get yourself some nice chips (French fries) and a snack for dinner such that you don’t have to worry about that yourself.
And the best: if you are a first year you even get one item for free! If you are still hungry after that, it is €2,- per additional snack or portion of fries.
We welcome you all to come somewhere between 16:30 and 20:00 to the Frietkarborrel at the Simon Stevin field (between the Markthall and the pond). No need to sign up! There will be enough fries for everyone!

Continue readingAfter a hectic introduction week where you have (hopefully) made a lot of new friends it is time to really start your student life. And no student life without studying. However, you might already heard a lot of concepts you have never heard of, like "Canvas", "TE Timetable", "Plan App" or "Osiris". But don’t be afraid! There is no need to worry. Attending this training will teach you all the basics you need to know to survive all the software at the TU/e.
In case there are more then 120 people that want to attend, there will be a "first come, first serve" policy. In that case the remainder can view the session online.
Don’t forget to bring your laptop!
Continue readingGeorgios Evangelou will provide an interesting presentation on why he decided to go for the 2 year salaried post-master EngD Software Technology program for technological designers with TU/e, give some nice examples of multidisciplinary group training projects and also elaborate on his individual graduation project ‘Automatic and Optimized Hardware Sequence Generation and Inline Interpretation’ conducted at ASML. His thesis won the Software Technology Award 2024.

Continue readingDear members of s.v. GEWIS,
The celebration of academia is a tradition that dates back to ancient times. This university also participates in these cheerful celebrations every year. However, while the celebrating public gathers in the Blauwe Zaal, Hèt Dispuut opts for a celebration with a more intimate and traditional ambiance, where the true academic spirit can flourish.
Fraternity "In Vino Veritas" cordially invites the members of the association to celebrate the start of a new academic year together. This year, Amuse cards will be sold, which feature a selection of refined Dutch delicacies.
On September 2 from 5:00 PM, I.V.V welcomes you for an evening of conviviality and good taste. In addition to the delicious amuses, Hèt Dispuut will provide you with (sparkling) wine and other snacks, to stimulate good conversations that look at daily affairs with a critical eye.
In honor of this occasion, we kindly request that you wear appropriate clothing.
Proost!
Quaestor B. Henkemans der Dispuut "In Vino Veritas"
Continue readingGoing to pick up your laptop? Make sure to also pick up the books you ordered from GEWIS!
We will hand out the books from 12 o'clock onwards. To ease the wait between the laptop and book pickup, we will provide some free lunch, and games for you to play. So meet up with all the nice people you met during the introduction week and reminisce about how fun the week has been and look forward together to the start of the academic year.
When you pick up your book, you will also get a voucher for a free soda or beer. You can only use them at the social drink that afternoon, which starts at 16:30. So make sure to hang around!
You can find us outside on the field between Metaforum and Atlas, next to the pond.
If the weather turns out badly, we will move inside to the GEWIS room
Continue readingThis year the Intro Department Party will take on a bit of a different shape. Join us at our own festival with all of your favourite GEWIS-artists!!! 🥳

Continue readingAre you excited for summer, man?
The BAC is excited for summer, man! And how can you better enjoy summer than with a beach? Well, by not having to bike all the way to Best! For us, even walking to the IJzeren Man is too far. No, for this ultimate summer experience, you don't even have to leave the campus!
But do you know what the problem is with most beaches? Sand! We don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and annoying, and it gets everywhere. However, the whole beach lounging thing is pretty great.
Can you picture it: beach chairs, cocktails, beer that doesn't cost 8 euros, Desperados, music, and more. That's why the BAC presents the perfect solution for everyone who really wants to enjoy summer: the "Strand zonder Zand" Party.
Can you already see yourself in a beach chair with an ice-cold Desperados or a cocktail, enjoying Playa del Atlas at its finest! Then be sure to come on August 15th with your sunglasses to the best beach without sand.
Continue readingNext week is the interim exam period. Of course you need a nice place to study. You might think about going to the crowded library, but we have a better idea!
From Wednesday August 7th until Friday evening August 16th you will be able to study in MF3.103, and MF3.105! Of course, this is awesome because:
Tea and coffee are seconds awayYou can use our books to study (ask the board before borrowing please)You can work together with your friends and ask advice from those who have already mastered the courses you are currently working on!One of the rooms will be a designated silence room, and one will be for collaboration.
Hope to see you there and good luck with your exams!
Continue readingDear GEWIS'ers,
At this point, you might have started to worry, as the summer has started already some time ago and you haven't seen our lovely yearly activity happen yet. But please do not get anxious, as the time has finally come to drink some wine in this lovely weather, and enjoy yourselves by throwing some balls.
This year, "In Vino Veritas" is organising an even more exciting "Spel met Ballen", as it is combined with an activity that we are well-known for, the Month'like drink. This means that while playing the lovely game with balls, you can enjoy a very nice glass of wine and even the usual delicacies of the Month'like drink.
Together with a partner, you are able to subscribe in order to participate in the official "Spel met Ballen" tournament and battle other teams for a chance to win the challenge cup. Beware though, the subscription list closes the Sunday before the activity.
Don't worry though, if you're not up for playing a couple rounds on the field, you can also just come and enjoy the borrel.
We hope to see you on the field,
Fraternity "In Vino Veritas"
Continue readingDear drinkers,
About a month ago the BAC had a fantastic time behind the bar at the BorrelXL. Here one could enjoy delicious beer, viper, soft drinks but also wine. Unfortunately, the latter was not enjoyed as much and so the BAC has an abundance of wine (after a mistake by the buyer).
Now we are not I.V.V and we just want to have an abundance of beer. That's why we decided to sell it for a promotional price of €5.00 per bottle. You can walk up to a BAC member to see if they can grab a few bottles for you.
Thank you in advance!
Greetings,
Sven Mokveld, buyer of the BAr Commission s.v. GEWIS
Continue readingOn June 28th a new online-only season of Wie is de Mol starts and we want organise a small competition to see who is best at finding the Mole.
Every week after the episodes air (2 per week on Fridays) we will send a short survey with questions about the Mole and you have until the release of the next episodes to answer them.
After only a few weeks we will find out who who the Mole was on July 19th and that is when we will crown our winner too.
The TV-show is in Dutch, but English subbed episodes usually arrive pretty fast somewhere on the internet. So if your Dutch is no good but you are interested and still want to join that should be possible and we will try to accommodate.
The episodes can be watched for free at npo.nl/start and more information about the season such as the announcement and a list of the participants can be found at: https://wieisdemol.avrotros.nl/nieuws-item/onbekende-nederlanders-op-zoek-naar-de-mol-in-oman/
Continue readingOn the 4th of July, we will host the inauguration drink for the 43rd board of GEWIS! During the inauguration drink, a lot of external associations, the department board, GEWIS bodies and members can come to congratulate the new board. We will celebrate their installation with a night full of free beers and amazing memories.
For the inauguration drink, we do need a lot of volunteers. We have to empty the room, protect the board and guestbook during the drink and bring the board home after the drink. We would like to know whether you are available for any of these tasks. Please note: bringing the board home means you are sober. If you are available, please fill in this form.
The obligatory infomeeting, at which everything about the order committee will be explained, takes place on Wednesday June 19th from 12:40 till 13:20. The location will be announced later!
Note that for non-volunteers, the borrel starts around 19:00 (the internal part).
If you have any remaining questions, send a mail to orde@gewis.nl.
