Hét Dispuut In Vino Veritas

Do you know everything, is your knowledge about music outstanding, or are you just looking for a fun night? Then prove yourself to others in a team of 4 to 6 persons during the GELIMBO-quiz at June 20 2017!
The quiz wil be in English, but there will be questions regarding dutch topics. The questions could be about everything. There are fantastic prizes to be won and it is going to be legen-wait for it-dary.
Note that as long as the Gaslab will be available, the quiz will be held there. If this is not the case, then only 10 teams will be able to participate because of capacity constraints, so make sure to subscribe early on. In the second case there won't be any participation fee.

Lunaris: The better way to produce printed circuit boards
In this talk, Joost Sannen (embedded software architect at Sioux) will give an overview of the calibration algorithms that are critical for the operation of the Lunaris printer, which introduces a novel approach to printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing by using inkjet technology for the imaging of this circuitry.
This new method requires very accurate (~10um) placement of millions of ink drops. Because the machine operates in a highly cost driven market, most of its components have relatively high mechanical tolerances. This is compensated for by automated calibrations. After placement, a Lunaris machine can calibrate itself to the required accuracy without external measurements.
The entire calibration process requires more than 15 steps, which are employing computer vision, solving thousands of equations and statistical analysis. An interesting use of mathematics and information technology in a far-from-trivial application.

On Monday the 19th of June Study Association GEWIS will convene the 158th General Meeting. All of her members are invited to attend this meeting as the Code of Conduct article 4 demands. Up until 4 days prior to the meeting, members can suggest items to be discussed in this meeting. The agenda, minutes and other documents will be posted on the website.

If you are an English speaking member and want to attend this meeting, please notify us in time. The GM is usually in Dutch but might be held in English if someone demands that.

Members that are absent with notice, can authorize another member. Mind that authorizations shall only be accepted when they are signed by hand or submitted via the website. For more information, see the HR article 5.

Soon ATHENA and B.O.O.M. organizes the Cocktail Burger Buitenborrel in collaboration with the BAC again. ATHENA will take care of the cocktails, with a sweet and not so sweet card, each with three different cocktails. B.O.O.M again provides delicious burgers from the barbecue, and the BAC will of course ensure that the liquid gold again flows richly. See you then!

It is with great pleasure and much elation that Fraternity “In Vino Veritas” can inform you that the first Etiquette dinner at GEWIS has finally got a date. During this evening, fraternity I.V.V will inform you on all the etiquette at the dinner table, taught to you by mister Van Beekveld. On top of that, as never shown before, the wine etiquette, presented by our own, world famous Master of Wine Mgr. Sanders.

During this evening, Fraternity “In Vino Veritas” will prepare a themed 3-course dinner for all the attendees. As one can expect from us, the drinks (vin) will also be taken care of. During this 3 course dinner, one will learn how to behave decently during dinners, for example one with your future employer or the King of the Netherlands. All of this is offered to you for only €27,50.

This event is going to take place on Wednesday the 14th of June 2017 and there are 22 spots for any GEWIS member, apart from the fraternity. As our fraternity expects a lot of interested members, we hereby inform you that the subscription list opens on the 30th of March, at 1:00 PM.

On the 12th of June, the Intro Parent Activity will be held! On this activity you will get to know your intro parter better. It shall start at around 6pm, in front of the markthal where a 'frietkar' will be present. Take your bicycle with you!

Many of you have already seen the ``B.O.O.M. Buitenlands Weekend'' from up close, and those do not need to be convinced to participate this years edition again.

For those who are not yet familiar with the term ``B.O.O.M. Buitenlands weekend'', a brief description: Every year there is this one special weekend in which a group of adventurous students gather and travel to an exciting place somewhere in another country. During the days, some great activities will be offered and the nights are spent drinking some beers close by a fire and falling asleep inside a cozy tent.

This years edition will take place in the Belgian Ardennes, close to the picturesque village of Durbuy. During the weekend, we will participate in several activities, for example a Friday night activity, a scenic mountain bike tour, and a wonderful canoeing trip.
