GEWIS will celebrate its 33rd birthday at June 28th. This will be celebrated on Friday June 26th: during the day there are games and other small festivities at GEWIS, and there will be a borrel starting at 16:30. Of course, cake will be served.

Gesport has a GEWIS team participating in this year's hajraa buitentoernooi. This means volleyball, beer and fun! If you wan't to participate but can't be there the whole weekend, that's fine ;)

Brief description of the Hajraa Buitententoernooi
Since its first edition in 1979 with 80 competing teams the Hajraa Outdoor Tournament has grown to one of the biggest European volleyball tournaments on grass. Considering the 400 teams of different nationalities playing on more than 100 grounds together with more than 4000 other volleyball lovers and party people on one big camping site and two great parties with more than 15000 litres of beer, this event has grown to almost legendary proportions!
In one week time the sports area and the campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology will transform in the biggest volleyball event of Europe with two full days of volleyball, Saturday afternoon theme-activities and both on Friday and Saturday evenings the biggest and most spectacular parties you can think of with live bands every night.
Besides a group of participants of our neighboring countries we also welcome participants from the rest of the world. In 2000 we welcomed a delegation from Taiwan and in 2001 Romanian students won the final of the Open Dutch Student Championship Grass volleyball. In 2007 we got surprised by the participation of a team from Canada! In 2010 Haifa University won the overall Open Dutch Student Championship and they continued their success in 2011.
This well known volleyball tournament with international fame is one of the biggest in Europe and is organized by students of the Eindhoven Student Volleyball Club Hajraa. Hajraa is a club that is active in the regional and national volleyball competition and organises lots of activities that are related to volleyball and having fun.

The last quartile has started and like always, GETAART wil organise a most delicious dinner for you!
For the fourth dinner we will make nothing; you are going to do this all by yourself! We have organised an awesome sushi workshop for you!
With help of an expert we will learn how to make tasty sushi, only to eat it ourselves afterwards of course!
The dinner will take place on the 12th of June at 18:00 at GEWIS, and will cost only €10!
There is space for a max of 30 people, so register quickly!

The DET-day is an old tradition. The students of mathematics and computer science of the three Dutch universities of technology will get together for a day of fun.
The DET-day is a collaboration of GEWIS, W.I.S.V 'Christiaan Huijgens', W.S.G. Abacus and I.C.T.S.V. Inter-Actief.

game of Roulette, BlACkjACk or Texas Hold’em and you might even be able to walk away with some
nice prices this evening. So if you want to join, the AC Casino night starts Tuesday 9 June at GEWIS at
18:30 and is free of charge.

Fraternity "In Vino Veritas" is organising another Maand'lijksche borrel. This borrel is a thematized whiskyborrel with the thema: "A journey through Scotland". We will present you the finest whiskies, of which each will have his charasteristic taste and we will explore the many different parts of this versatile country. Together with these whiskies, there will be some delicious snacks and there will also be wines for those who prefer wine over whisky.
Note that the dresscode is "jacket and tie".

You survived B.O.O.M. weekend last year? And you want to try again? Sign up for this years B.O.O.M. weekend!
Did you not join last year, than sign up to be part of this years weekend!
It will be a weekend full of fun, active activities and of course a fire at the end of the day on the camping.
The weekend is with food and drinks for only €55 for students and €90 for alumni. (In this way more people can join.)
We would like to know if you have a tent and if you have a car or if you could borrow one for this weekend. If there are too little cars, we might send some people by train, therefore we want to know which kind of OV you have.
We have a max of 40 participants, so make sure to subscribe quickly!

The GELIMBO Quiz is back! This year we cooperate with SCIFI resulting in a quiz in English with an international flavour.
Sign up in teams of 4 to 6 people, we cannot host all of GEWIS, so first come first serve.
Strongly advised to have at least one Dutch speaking person per team.
During this "Kringgesprek" we will discuss the 1st year courses of Computer Science of this period.
Besides students, the teachers will also join this meeting so they can act on your feedback immediatly.
These meetings are very useful and regularly lead to some changes in the course, while the course is still running!
Everybody is welcome to join, please let me know through this or by mail (co@gewis.nl) if you will be attending, so I can make the right arrangements.
