Optiver invites you for a lunch lecture, Thursday 10th June at 12:30.

The competitive world of highly-automated electronic market making requires Optiver to use the very best high performance hardware and software. We have hundreds of trading systems spread across multiple countries which need to rapidly respond to constantly changing conditions.

One of our biggest challenges is the relation between our trading and development departments. How can we answer trading requests efficiently, while keeping the systems stable? How shall we allocate priorities?

During his lecture we will give you practical examples about the daily challenges that our software engineers are facing.

De zon schijnt en de B.O.O.M.en zijn weer mooi groen. Hoog tijd voor een actief buitenlands weekendje. Op vrijdag 4

juni 2010 vertrekken we naar de Eiffel in Duitsland. Daar zullen we op een camping overnachten en op zondag 6 juni

gaan we weer terug naar Eindhoven.

Maar niet zonder wat gedaan te hebben. Er zal een dropping zijn, we gaan mountainbiken, waterfietsen en rodelen.

Het weekend is inclusief eten, activiteiten en vervoer maar 50 euro!

The Software Technology program (aka OOTI) is one of the many choices you
have available after completing your Master programme. Each year up to 20
MSc graduates are offered a paid position to prepare themselves for leading
technological jobs such as software designer or architect.

In this lecture we will explain what the ST program offers, what you will
be doing during your two year traineeship, and how that will contribute to your career in industry.

Op 28 mei zal in Utrecht de Landelijke Interuniversitaire Mathematische Olympiade plaatsvinden.

Eerst zal een lezing worden gegeven gevolgd door een lunch. Na de lunch vindt de wedstrijd plaats. De teams zullen zich, verdeeld over lokalen in het Minnaertgebouw en BuysBallotLaboratorium, op een aantal zeer verschillende opgaven, van calculus tot lineaire algebra en van analyse tot combinatoriek, storten.

Daarna is er een borrel om bij te komen en na te praten over de opgaven. De prijsuitreiking zal worden verzorgd door Prof.dr. Jan Terlouw!

Het voorlopige dagprogramma op vrijdag 28 mei ziet er als volgt uit:

Donderdag 27 mei is er een bedrijfsbezoek naar GoldFish ICT. Dit bedrijf is gevestigd in Waardenburg en is een gespecialiseerd adviesbureau gericht op de voedingsmiddelen- en farmaceutische industrie. Waar ze werken op het grensvlak tussen procesverbetering en ICT-optimalisatie, met ICT als hulpmiddel en niet als doel. Het programma daar zal van ongeveer 10.30 tot 15.00 duren. Wat betekent dat we rond 9.00 de trein zullen pakken (waarvan de treinkaartjes natuurlijk vergoed worden, mocht je geen Week-OV hebben!) en waardoor we tussen 16.30 en 17.00 terug zijn. Dus je hoeft niet veel van de borrel te missen! Inschrijving is mogelijk door mij te mailen of je in te schrijven op de inschrijflijst bij GEWIS.
