Dear students,
This year, Tuesday the 5th of June, C4 is organizing a great career event: The C4 Company Dinner!
As usual in our career related activities, we will also provide you with enough food and drinks.
At the dinner, four companies will attend, of which you can choose two to talk with. With both of them, you will enjoy two nice courses and some drinks to discover the career possibilities they have in an informal conversation.
Are you a Master's student? Then you are lucky! If the 36 spots are filled within the week we will hold a drawing where Master's will have a priority over Bachelor's students.
Make sure you fill in your allergies, field of interest and which companies you would like to have dinner with. You have to fill in at least the first two spots, since you wil have dinner with two companies. The 3rd and 4rd spots are optional for the ones that do not get their 1st and/or 2nd preference but are still very interested in their 3rd and 4th preference. Otherwise fill in " - ".
We hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
C4
(Software) challenges at ASML ASML is a supplier of machines used in the semiconductor industry. These so called scanners are used when producing chips. To meet the increasing demands on accuracy and higher throughput, we continuously improve parts of the system, as well as the ways these are calibrated and controlled. Many of the improvements require changes to the control software of these systems. Next to these hardware improvements, mechanical imperfections are compensated by using complex algorithms. What are the challenges to develop such a system? How do we develop software for these systems? What comes into play? How is it like to work at ASML?
This is the subscription list for training (3/3) of the three-part series of lunch break trainings. This subscription list opens on Monday May 14th at 13:30.
Many students experience stress during the exams or with pressing deadlines. Though stress can be useful, too much stress can cause your results to decline and can even effect your health. That's why TRAIN organises the training: Manage your Stress.
Manage your stress exists of three independent workshops during the lunch break which will be given in May and June. Each training can be followed independently, but if possible we advise to do all three of them.
Part three of this series is about how you can reduce stress by using mindfulness. This may sound out of here, but that isn't the case. It a good way to step out of the pressures of daily life.
The training is given by De Binnenkamer and will be given in English. Note: there are 30 spots available . You can unsubscribe for free until 24 hours before the training. When your unsubscribe after this date or when you fail to show up at the training you'll have to pay our fine of € 20.

[Lunch Lecture will be in Dutch] Piet neemt jullie mee in een casus over een hacker.

Digiscanner: The architecture of a real-time vision application. The DigiScanner is a hand-held scanner for orthodontic use. It creates a 3D-model of the jaw using structured light. To go from camera-image to 3D-model, we use several vision algorithms from multiple sources. In developing the application, an architecture was required that is modular and flexible, so we could experiment with multiple ways of combining the different algorithms. In addition, we need all the performance we can get out of our x86 system. This means sharing memory between modules and an effective multi-threading strategy. In this talk, Sioux presents the architecture we developed for this application and show how it combines modularity, maintainability and performance in a single design. About the speaker Koen Rutten is senior software engineer at Sioux. He studied both mathematics and computer science at Utrecht University. He works at Sioux on vision algorithms for embedded applications, with a specialisation on ARM and x86.
Uber is a venture-funded startup headquartered in San Francisco. We are a global mobility and logistics technology platform: our flagship service allows users to request quality, on-demand rides with a touch of their smartphone and we are rapidly developing new products. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get a ride at the touch of a button? Six years and over a billion trips later, we’ve started tackling an even greater challenge: reducing congestion and pollution in our cities by getting more people into fewer cars. We are present in over 500+ cities worldwide, including over 60+ cities in EMEA with plans to rapidly expand in the region. We have already found strong product market fit with a world changing service, but we’re only just getting started. The program for the lecture will be:
D3.JS library to visualize business data As a travel industry software solutions supplier, we have experience with generating attractive commercial web pages. A need to visualize internal business data lead us to discover D3.JS. This library enables attractive visualizations of various data sources in a browser. Within our company this is a different technology than what we are used to - building pages for customers wanting to book a trip or holiday (with ASP.NET MVC, Angular and CanJS). In this presentation we show the results of our first experiments with this D3.JS library. This lunch lecture is interesting for students in both Computer Science and Mathematics, since we will dive into topics related to software engineering and data science. About NetMatch NetMatch is an innovative software specialist focusing on e-commerce in the travel industry. With almost 100 colleagues we provide high quality software solutions to European tour operators and online travel agencies. NetMatch’ clients are major travel companies such as Corendon, Zoover, and TUI Cruises.
Cars are rapidly becoming more complex and with that the amount of software is increasing as well. For each function in the car, multiple components have to work together closely. To cope with the complexity of automotive software a standardized software architecture is developed: Autosar. We are developing a system to wirelessly charge vehicles and we will present the challenges that have to be faced. Next to that we show how we use Autosar and other design methodologies to cope with the system's complexity.

Applying cutting edge technology with Pega BPM software #lowcode #AI #robotics @BPMCompany Applications need to be built more rapidly than ever before. In this lunch lecture, BPM Company explains how software writes software and how Pega BPM software empowers organisations to quickly develop applications. This low-code, model driven development platform already incorporates AI and Robotic Process Automation in its core. Get ready for the software of the future. About BPM Company BPM Company was founded in the Netherlands in 2011. Since then, we have developed and grown rapidly. We finished 6th place in the Top 100 of FD Gazellen 2015 and won "Best ICT-project of the year in the SMB segment" at the Computable Awards 2015. We have a team of enthusiastic, certified and experienced BPM consultants and developers. We work for various clients in multiple industries such as Banking, Insurance, Telecom, Utility and Service industry. BPM Company operates in the Benelux with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium and 1 year ago a near-shore branch was established in Romania. BPM Company is an IT service provider specialized in the realization of business applications by deploying BPM platforms. With a BPM platform, organizations can easily model their own business processes from end-to-end. With these process models, applications can then be configured in a rapid and simple manner and integrated into the existing application landscape. We advise you about the possibilities that BPM can offer you, as well as the risks that may be involved. We look a little further and take on the customer’s perspective to identify opportunities for improvement. We create long-term partnerships with different kinds of enterprises. Strategic partnerships BPM Company is a strategic partner of two global market leaders in BPM software: Pegasystems and Mendix. We have been an alliance partner of Pegasystems and a certified implementation partner of Mendix. This means that our consultants are supported by and certified in Pegasystems and Mendix technology. Strategic advantage Our customers achieve strategic advantage of working with BPM software. The business is directly involved in the iterative modelling and automating of business processes. Also, applications are developed quicker and more efficient. This leads to lower development and maintenance costs, and enables greater flexibility and agility for the client organization. Examples of business processes that we automate are in various fields such as marketing, customer service, sales and operations.
We are a small business employing six people, of which five TU/e engineers (mathematics and computer science).
AlgebraKiT offers an online system for interactive mathematics, used by educative math publishers. Our tools enable interactive exercises with step-by-step evaluation, hints, error feedback and unlimited training.
During this lecture we will discuss the key elements that make AlgebraKiT unique in interactive mathematics. Applications like Wolfram Alpha are used in abundance to solve pretty much any mathematical problem in the blink of an eye, but use theory way too complex for a high school student to understand. Our application is built from the perspective of a student, using only the knowledge he or she has at any given time in their education. We will talk in more detail about the challenges that arise with this approach.
We will also discuss the extensive range of additional requirements that apply to offer our solution to large publishers. We show how we set up our architecture and how we organise development with a small team.
