We are Anago, a young and innovative software developer. We are not a standard IT organization, but an enthusiastic team of 60 young, smart people, where women are in the majority. We believe that sustainability and work that energizes you are more important than making a profit. We also believe that planning is essential for organizations that want to grow and improve on their own.
Anago creates standard planning solutions for the public sector such as Education, Government and Public Healthcare. We do this with our own smart, no-code platform. With our solutions we want to create an impact on the lives of many people. We are in the process of redefining our own platform. We want to make it fast and future proof using state-of-the-art technology. But in doing so, we are facing many challenges in the field of computer science. Building planning systems, we use complex and large data structures and we model complex calculations.
During the lecture we want to touch a couple of these subjects, such as:
We will share our thoughts on these, but maybe you have ideas on things we should further investigate! See you on the 11th of June!
Note: after subscribing, showing up is mandatory! There are 135 spots only with first come first serve, priority will be given to students that sign up with their GEWIS account.
Uber is a global leader in ride-sharing and delivery services. To get where we are today, Uber had to build a robust and scalable software architecture. Leveraging microservices and asynchronous communications, we were able to design a system that allows Uber to support localised payment methods, such as iDeal, out of the box. Over this lecture, we will go over the decisions we took to get to this design and, ultimately, explain what is happening behind the app when you request a Ride and pay with your preferred payment method.

During this lunch lecture, someone will talk about what it is like working as a Data Science consultant at Pipple and discuss some interesting assignments they get from clients. Next they will talk in more detail about their research at the Jeroen Bosch Hospital. Here they try to predict which patients might experience side-effects following a new kind of treatment for patients with an auto-immune disease by using textual data in Electronic Patient Files. By using this model they can help doctors make better choices in the treatment of patients with auto-immune disease

Data in Construction – How to make a proper cake.
The construction industry is notoriously old-fashioned and slow, however, the industry is evolving and embracing ‘modern’ technology. Therefore, this old-school industry is coping with a wealth of new data which they do not always know how to handle. Interesting topics like predictive maintenance, AI-assisted design and sustainable developments seem far out of reach when organizations do not even know how many assets they have. The industry is trying to make a cake, while they only have raw sugar cane.
To solve this issue, BIM-Connected proposes an innovative way of working with data: Linked Data! This way of working can provide an improved Common Data Environment to answer (almost) all your questions. We are trying to make actual sugar, from sugar cane, so that the Built Environment can finally make some proper cakes!

Improving inclusive travel with privacy technology
Data provides significant opportunities, but it also comes with great responsibility. How can we use and connect sensitive data, such as travel records, from different organizations without violating privacy laws or exposing sensitive information? Roseman Labs' solution uses a cryptographic technique called Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC). Our technology allows organizations to combine and jointly analyze datasets without exposing their data.
In this lunch lecture, we will explain the concepts behind this technology and how it's applied. We will also detail a real-world case study of Publiek Vervoer Groningen Drenthe, a public transport organization that used Roseman Labs technology to optimize their social travel subsidies (WMO) with MPC. This innovative project won them the 2024 Dutch Privacy Award in the Application category.
Roseman Labs is a fast-growing Dutch start-up that builds innovative privacy technology. Our products allow customers to perform data analyses across multiple parties without needing to expose the underlying data. Interested? Visit https://rosemanlabs.com
