  • Maand'lijksche Borrel Maart: St. Patrick's Day

    Monday 23 Mar. 17:00 - 21:30 in 3 days and 18 hours

    Social drink

    Dear members of GEWIS,

In the Netherlands we suffer from a problem. We are among the countries with the least number of holidays. Logically, this problem conflicts with the interests of Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas". So please join us in a little history lesson so you too can start working towards celebrating the number of holidays a Burgundian deserves.

1641 years ago, a Roman-Britain was born in what is now what is now known as Great Britain. That boy was kidnapped by Irish raiders and sold as a slave. However, he escaped and converted the pagan Irish to Christianity. He is now known as St. Patrick and is a national symbol of Ireland.  The holiday that celebrates him is the world's excuse to dress green, drink Guinness and overestimate their Irish roots. However, back in the fifth century, Guinness didn't exist yet.  What did exist however, was shepherd's pie and whiskey. According to legend, it was St. Patrick himself that introduced Ireland to whiskey distillation.

To honor this, Hèt Dispuut is organizing a beautiful Month'like drink to wane yourself in those old times and celebrate this holiday that you deserve. Of course, there will also be wine, because as you may know, wine predates even the Republic of Ireland itself, and no good holiday should go without it. So learn from history and join us in celebrating this holiday in style.

Met gepaste hoogachting, Dhr. Deen and Feut Willem

In practice, that information is often scattered across tools, documents, and inconsistent data models. That’s where Linked Data and the Semantic Web come in. In this lecture, we’ll explore data-centric ways of working, the core ideas behind Linked Data, and hands-on examples of how to model, link, and query asset information in the built environment (and beyond)!

Have you always wanted to have a drink and have a good conscience? Then the BAC presents the perfect drink for you, the charity drink.

We will drink to donate to two charities. You can help determine which two charities by completing the form below.

There will be multiple ways to donate to the charity. There will be a few free kegs, where you can still buy your beers as a donation.

In addition, we will hold a raffle and an auction with donated items from GEWIS members and the BAC. You can also donate nice items yourself, which you can also enter in the forms.

Finally, you can sign up for certain actions that you will perform for a certain donated amount. Think of this, for a total of 5 euros I fold 1 container. For a total of 10 euros, two containers, etc. You can also indicate this in the forms.

We hope you're looking forward to it as much as we are, and hopefully we can raise a lot of money through drinking.

  • Oud BAC Borrel

    Friday 17 Apr. 16:30 - 21:00 in 4 weeks and 18 hours

    Social drink

Have you always wanted to learn all the beer-games from the real experts? Always wanted to feel what it's like when — POEF! — a new drink is in your hand the moment your glass says: "I'm done"? Then the old-BAC borrel is the happening where you must be.

One time per year, the old-members of the BAC exchange their comfortable spot in front of the bar for a moment of main character energy behind the tap again. This is the moment where they go all out with their yearlong borrel-experiences and deeply trained drink-knowledge, and share it with the new gen. They show how it's done, and more importantly: how it went down back in the days.

Whether you come for the nostalgics, for the 'gezelligheid', or just to upgrade your drink-technique to pro-level — the old-BAC borrel has something for everyone. Expect an evening full of laughter, story times from the dusty closets, unplanned game-vibes and of course: a glass that is never empty. NEVER.

So mark your agenda’s and be there on April 17th, because this is one for the books. You really, really don’t want to miss this. See you in the borrel-zone!

    Weekend

    The Batavierenrace is back!

The next edition of the world's largest relay race is scheduled to take place over the weekend between May 9th and 11th, 2026. We will start in the centre of Nijmegen and run 175km, split up into 25 parts, to the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede. The race begins on Friday evening and will finish in the afternoon on Saturday, meaning we will run through the night.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll be camping on the University of Twente campus alongside hundreds of students from across the Netherlands (bring your own tent). The night shift will travel to Nijmegen for the start, while the morning and afternoon shifts will head to Enschede and be transported by bus to their respective starting points.

And while the race itself is unforgettable, that’s not all; this weekend also hosts the biggest student party in Europe, an experience you definitely won’t want to miss.

It will be possible for participants to buy a sports shirt for +/- €15, but this is optional.

We are still looking for a sponsor, so the price might still decrease.

  • GELIFT Hitchhiking Competition: Luxembourg - Antwerp

    Weekend

While the world does not get much more beautiful than Eindhoven, sometimes you get the urge to go out there and discover the world. Shortly after that, you often realise that travelling is expensive and cancel your plans. But what if I were to tell you that we have found a solution for this exact problem? Go hitchhiking with a buddy; this is a cheap way to travel and a great way to meet interesting people.

But what if I told you that we have found a way to make hitchhiking even more fun? By turning it into a competition, you can win the right to brag to your friends about this. You can even do some challenges along the way to improve your final time.

On the first day, you and your buddy will travel to the capital city of Luxembourg, which is, coincidentally, also called Luxembourg. After getting some well-deserved sleep there, on the next day, you will make your way to one of the biggest cities in Belgium, Antwerp. We also have a fun activity planned for Friday evening in Antwerp. There will, of course, be plenty of time to discover the city before we make our way back to Eindhoven on Saturday evening.

For the low, low price of € 45, or a bit more if you have already graduated, you will receive the following: An overnight stay in both cities, a trip back to Eindhoven, and everything you need to hitchhike.

To ensure that everyone has the required skills to make it to the destinations, we will organise an information session before the weekend to provide all participants with some general information and helpful tips.

If you have student weekend OV, please check the relevant box in the sign-up sheet.

If there are more than 15 duos within 24 hours, a draw will be held. After this, the subscription will be "first-come, first-served". Do make sure to subscribe, since there will be a waiting list!

Note that you will need to sign a contract to join this activity, and get your own travel insurance.

    Social drink
    Party!

The world is on fire, groceries are more expensive than your study credits, and the Dutch weather doesn’t seem to know what season it is either.

So we’ll just do it ourselves: one night, four seasons. And probably four stages of drunkenness.

Because Dispuut B.O.O.M. is turning 20, and we’re obviously not letting that pass quietly. The last week of May will be entirely dedicated to our 4th Lustrum, with the grand finale on Friday, May 29th: the Lustrum Gala.

A gala? Indoors? Of course not! Grab your boots from the closet, because we’ve arranged a beautiful outdoor location especially for all lovers of the outdoors.

Don’t have boots? No worries. Sign up for the interest list for LIMITED EDITION B.O.O.M.-proof boots, and we’ll contact you later with the exact price.

The theme is Four Seasons, so expect fresh outfits, sweating on the dance floor, falling people, and eventually ending the night in something resembling a hibernation.

Would you rather enjoy a festive band, fantastic DJs, and a lot of drinks together with someone instead of alone? In GEWIS you can find green stationery to invite your favorite person via a letter.

Everyone is welcome, including non-GEWIS members. They can subscribe themselves, but this is not needed if you indicate that you pay for them.

    The costs: first-years: €27,50 |  regular students: €30,- |  non-students: €37,- | Late sign-up: +€2,50

So come experience all four seasons during the Gala on Boots!
