GEBALLMERPIEK is back again with a big surprise, the beerpong tournament! Together with your chosen teammate, you'll compete in the ultimate test of coordination, balance, strategy and the ability to blame someone else when things go wrong. Choose your teammate wisely as beerpong is a true team sport: sometimes you carry your partner, sometimes they carry you, and sometimes you just need a partner that will help with finishing the beerpong cups.

The tournament starts with a pool phase, where teams are grouped together and play their matches on moments that fit their schedules. To make this work, we ask you to indicate up to three weekdays on which you absolutely cannot play. Matches should be played with the teammate you signed up with, preferably at GEWIS, before 11th of March. You yourself are responsible for playing all matches. Participation in the pool phase is free, though you will of course need to provide your own beer.

The best teams from each pool will go to the finale evening. There will be glory, a prize for the winners, and eternal fame (at least until next year). Please note: if you sign up, you must be available on the evening of 18 March, as this is when the finale will take place. Participation in the finale requires a small contribution.

Tijdens deze editie van onze welbekende "NS-Hike" zullen we door natuurpark Krickenbecker Seen lopen.

We zullen wat snacks regelen voor tijdens de route, en ergens langs de route ook een welverdiend drankje!

Get ready for a new ATHENA activity: the Crazy Cocktail Competition! Collect the perfect crew and try to win the most games to eventually get the best cocktail. 🍸🧩

How it works❔ Collect a crew of 4 or 5 members. There are 4 rounds. Each round is a different type of game. If your team is first in the round, you get to pick your ingredient first. Second team gets to pick second, and so on. Each round has a different category ingredient. 🥃🍾🧃🍋 After 4 rounds, you have 4 ingredients that we will combine into a (hopefully) delicious cocktail. Participating for only €2 will guarantee you 4 rounds of fun games as well as one cocktail collected by the end. Menigen van jullie zijn bekend met het adagium: "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." Dit kan niet alleen gebruikt worden om de problematiek van de maatschappij te omschrijven, maar ook de relatie die Hèt Dispuut heeft met het organiseren van "Keuken met I.V.V". Deze onderhand vaste prik in het activiteitenrepertoire staat bij de Heren van Hèt Dispuut bekend als een activiteit waar disproportioneel veel tijd en moeite in zit.

De mankracht die helpt bij de activiteit kan gezien worden als de "strong men". De nasleep, een extase na alle moeite, kan gezien worden als de "good times". En dan, na verloop van tijd, wanneer de herinnering aan boodschappenstress en technische paniek langzaam vervaagt, begint het gepeupel weer te verlangen naar een nieuwe editie van Keuken met I.V.V. Daar treffen wij de "weak men".

Vervolgens, wanneer een van de Heren na genoeg vergaderingen en momenten van collectieve zelfoverschatting de gevaarlijke woorden uitspreekt: "Zullen we weer een editie van Keuken met I.V.V organiseren?", dan zijn we officieel aangekomen bij de "hard times".

Gelukkig zullen wij u allen vakkundig begeleiden door deze moeilijke tijden. Immers, het enige wat jullie hoeven te doen, is met ons mee te koken! Deze editie gaan we focussen op, voor menig hobbychef, wat obscurdere kooktechnieken. Specifiek zal dit de kreefteditie zijn, waarbij wij laten zien hoe je niet naar een driesterrenkreeftenbar hoeft te gaan om te genieten van dit prachtproduct. Natuurlijk zijn we ons ervan bewust dat de doelgroep studenten zijn, dus zullen we alles proberen te halen uit het vlees. Dit betekent dat de gangen die jullie zullen maken allemaal betrekking zullen hebben op het het bereiden van onze favoriete tienpotige kreeftachtigen uit de familie der Nephropidae.

Deze gauntlet, die al jaren de grondslag vormt van de inspiratie van Gordon Ramsay, zal plaatsvinden op Twitch (twitch.tv/hetdispuut) en zal zondag 15 maart beginnen, om ongeveer half zes. De inschrijflijst zal openen op vrijdag 6 februari en zal sluiten op zondag 8 maart. Er is aanvankelijk begroot op vier groepjes, waarbij het dan ook "first come, first serve" zal zijn op basis van de inschrijflijst. Indien er echter wederom ruim schoots animo is, zullen we kijken of we de aantallen kunnen ophogen, waarover u tijdig wordt geïnformeerd.

Wij zullen ervoor zorgen dat de meeste ingrediënten af te halen zijn in de GEWIS-ruimte. De rest van de ingrediënten, die vermeld zullen worden in het recept dat binnenkort online komt, dient u zelf aan te schaffen voor een verwaarloosbaar bedrag. Gelieve per groep in te schrijven, en alleen met degene die het eten komt ophalen. Het diner is bedoeld voor ongeveer vier à vijf personen. Gezien het a-vegetarische beginsel dat komt kijken bij een kreeftkookworkshoplivestream, zullen wij geen vegetarische alternatieven live bereiden, maar wel mogelijke alternatieve ideeën vermelden in het receptenboek.

We would like to invite you to brainstorm with us on how to distribute the money of GEWIS. We are just looking for input and opinions, so if you are interested in the finances of GEWIS or have an opinion on where we spend (and earn) our money, you are invited to come brainstorm with us. All brainstorms will be held during the lunch break.

We have already prepared some statements, which we will talk about in three sessions. Listed below, you will find these statements listed under three dates, categorized by theme. Note that these points vary widely, so anyone's opinion is valued.

If you want to contribute to the discussion on any of these statements, make sure to join that brainstorm. Any statements/ideas besides these are, of course, also welcome, but we do request that you present them in the most thematically appropriate session to ensure they reach the right people. If you do have new ideas to bring to the table, we would appreciate it if you could email those to us in advance at pm@gewis.nl.

This year, after staying in the Netherlands last year, ATHENA would like to leave the country once again, so we are organizing a city trip to Germany, to the historical town of Aachen 🇩🇪! There are many sights to see, like the Aachen Cathedral ⛪️ or the Elisenbrunnen fountain ⛲️ and we will explore it all during our trip.

The weekend will take place from the 24th of April to the 26th. The price includes our accommodation, breakfast for both mornings 🥐, and a dinner on Saturday. We will also do a scavenger hunt 🔍 around the city on Saturday to explore the sights, and some mini golf 🏌️ on Sunday to wind down before heading back home. 

If you would like to explore a new city with friends and take a break from studying for a bit, sign up! The list opens on the 27th of February at 12.30 but sign up fast because there are only 24 spots available. 

-    If there are more than 24 subscriptions in the first hour, there will be a draw amongst those who subscribed before this deadline. After this it will be first come first serve. -    If the subscription is not full before this, the participants will be based on a first come first serve basis.

We will travel to Aachen by public transport, but you will have to pay for your ticket yourself. The exact start and end times of the weekend will be communicated later, based on availability. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us in person, via mail or via a post owl🦉💌.

GEZWEM will be having a sailing weekend yet again, this year on the weekend of the 1st of May! We will be charting the wild northern waters of Sneekermeer, in what is known as Dutch-Scandinavia or Fryslân.

The weekend will be filled with amazing adventures, sailing the seas to new lands, finding treasure in authentic brown pubs, and sharing stories, laughter, and rum between our tents.

For a fair price, we will organize a ship with a crew, quarters (bring your own tent), sustenance, and drink for you to stay and enjoy the riches of the GEZWEM sailing weekend (note that transport is not included in the price).

So join us in this wonderful weekend and endanger the waters of Fryslân during the day, and the brownest of pubs at night. No sailing experience required!!

The Batavierenrace is back!

The next edition of the world's largest relay race is scheduled to take place over the weekend between May 9th and 11th, 2026. We will start in the centre of Nijmegen and run 175km, split up into 25 parts, to the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede. The race begins on Friday evening and will finish in the afternoon on Saturday, meaning we will run through the night. 

Throughout the weekend, we’ll be camping on the University of Twente campus alongside hundreds of students from across the Netherlands (bring your own tent). The race is divided into three “shifts”: night, morning, and afternoon. The night shift will travel to Nijmegen for the start, while the morning and afternoon shifts will head to Enschede and be transported by bus to their respective starting points.

And while the race itself is unforgettable, that’s not all; this weekend also hosts the biggest student party in Europe, an experience you definitely won’t want to miss.

It will be possible for participants to buy a sports shirt for +/- €15, but this is optional.  

We are still looking for a sponsor, so the price might still decrease.

While the world does not get much more beautiful than Eindhoven, sometimes you get the urge to go out there and discover the world. Shortly after that, you often realise that travelling is expensive and cancel your plans. But what if I were to tell you that we have found a solution for this exact problem? Go hitchhiking with a buddy; this is a cheap way to travel and a great way to meet interesting people.

But what if I told you that we have found a way to make hitchhiking even more fun? By turning it into a competition, you can win the right to brag to your friends about this. You can even do some challenges along the way to improve your final time.

On the first day, you and your buddy will travel to the capital city of Luxembourg, which is, coincidentally, also called Luxembourg. After getting some well-deserved sleep there, on the next day, you will make your way to one of the biggest cities in Belgium, Antwerp. We also have a fun activity planned for Friday evening in Antwerp. There will, of course, be plenty of time to discover the city before we make our way back to Eindhoven on Saturday evening.

For the low, low price of € 45, or a bit more if you have already graduated, you will receive the following: An overnight stay in both cities, a trip back to Eindhoven, and everything you need to hitchhike.

To ensure that everyone has the required skills to make it to the destinations, we will organise an information session before the weekend to provide all participants with some general information and helpful tips.

If there are more than 15 duos within 24 hours, a draw will be held. After this, the subscription will be "first-come, first-served". Do make sure to subscribe, since there will be a waiting list!
