This year, after staying in the Netherlands last year, ATHENA would like to leave the country once again, so we are organizing a city trip to Germany, to the historical town of Aachen 🇩🇪! There are many sights to see, like the Aachen Cathedral ⛪️ or the Elisenbrunnen fountain ⛲️ and we will explore it all during our trip.

The weekend will take place from the 24th of April to the 26th. The price includes our accommodation, breakfast for both mornings 🥐, and a dinner on Saturday. We will also do a scavenger hunt 🔍 around the city on Saturday to explore the sights, and some mini golf 🏌️ on Sunday to wind down before heading back home. 

If you would like to explore a new city with friends and take a break from studying for a bit, sign up! The list opens on the 27th of February at 12.30 but sign up fast because there are only 24 spots available. 

-    If there are more than 24 subscriptions in the first hour, there will be a draw amongst those who subscribed before this deadline. After this it will be first come first serve.
-    If the subscription is not full before this, the participants will be based on a first come first serve basis.

We will travel to Aachen by public transport, but you will have to pay for your ticket yourself. The exact start and end times of the weekend will be communicated later, based on availability.

Get ready for a new ATHENA activity: the Crazy Cocktail Competition! Collect the perfect crew and try to win the most games to eventually get the best cocktail. 🍸🧩

How it works❔ Collect a crew of 4 or 5 members. There are 4 rounds. Each round is a different type of game. If your team is first in the round, you get to pick your ingredient first. Second team gets to pick second, and so on. Each round has a different category ingredient. 🥃🍾🧃🍋 After 4 rounds, you have 4 ingredients that we will combine into a (hopefully) delicious cocktail. Do you want some hints about the games? 🧩💪🏻📚🔍

Participating for only €2 will guarantee you 4 rounds of fun games as well as one cocktail collected by the end. If you want to have some more cocktails, we also provide a card with 3 cocktails for €4,50. Would you rather have some mocktails? There will also be a card with 3 mocktails for just €2 euros! 🍸🍹

Also this year ATHENA is organising an exciting trip. After having gone to Germany and Belgium with the previous two trips, we have decided to stay within the Netherlands🇳🇱 this year around. After some heavy thinking we have landed on the beautiful city of Leiden🏙. With all its canals and beautiful old buildings and streets we will for sure experience the real culture of Dutch architecture. To make the stay even more exited, this year we will be sleeping on a klipper (a sailing ship) ⛵that is located on the Zijlsingel of Leiden. 
The weekend will take place from Friday the 14th of February until Sunday the 16th of February. In addition to the stay on the Klipper we have arranged for breakfast🥐, some fun activities and dinner on the Saturday.
The remainder of the weekend you will have free time to enjoy, join us on a beautiful walk through Leiden and visit the many cultural aspects this city has to offer🚶‍♀. 
The subscription list will open Wednesday the 23rd of October at 12.30. There are 30 spots available, so be sure to subscribe on time!
-    If there are more than 30 subscription before Monday the 4th of November at 12:30 there will be a draw amongst those who subscribed before this deadline. After this it will be first come first serve.

 -  Turn simple popsicle sticks into charming Santas, or snowwomen 🎅⛄
 -  Craft unique Christmas cards to send warm wishes to friends and family ✉
  -  Create fluffy snowwomen from wool pom-poms, perfect for decorating ❄
  -  Use electric tea lights to make glowing reindeer or other festive figures 🦌✨

Whether you’re a crafting expert or just love the holiday vibes, we’ll provide everything you need to bring your creations to life. And of course, there will be plenty of hot chocolate 🍫 and Christmas snacks to keep the festive spirit going.

Have you always wanted to know what everyone thinks you are most likely to do, be or say? The dress code is a *White Shirt*, and we will provide a lot of markers to write on each other's shirt what you've always wanted to say about your friends. ✍🏼  At the end of the evening everyone will have a beautiful shirt with written 'most likely to' statements!

The party will start at 20.00 in the Miller Time, where you will be welcomed with a free shot🥃.  We will also provide some delicious snacks and the first 100 beers are free! 🍺

Do you love tea, cakes or fun games? Do you want different tea flavours than the ones at GEWIS? If so, on Tuesday the 24th of September from 18.00 to 21.00 your dreams will come true! We have just the activity for you: ATHENA's High Tea Tuesday. We will provide you with tea bags and some fresh ingredients you need to make your own perfect blend. And don't worry, we will also provide multiple black tea flavours. 
Not a tea lover? No problem! You can get your favourite drinks yourself at your own cost from the bar and still join in on the fun and snacks.

I hear you thinking, how much will this all cost? Well, it is totally free, the only thing you need to do is bake or bring snacks to share with the group. So you can bring along a sweet or savoury snack like brownies or mini sandwiches. In addition, ATHENA will also bake two amazing cakes for everyone to try!

As you all know ATHENA loves being creative. Many of you will be familiar with our Christmas crafts activity 🎄. Now for our next activity we have decided to take being creative to the next level. We are organizing a scrap art workshop👩‍🎨! For those of you that don’t know what scrap art is here a short explanation. Scrap art is creating art from scraps, now this not very clarifying. The idea is to take parts of old computers🖥, keyboards⌨, machines🔌 and other devices that are no longer functioning and create art works with this. You can create different types of animals🦉 or objects, or stick to abstract art. You can create whatever you want, and be as creative as possible with the given scrap pieces.

ATHENA is organizing a city trip to a German city this time, following some successful trips to Dutch and Belgium cities: we are going to Cologne! 🇩🇪

We will be visiting Cologne from Friday 22nd of March to Sunday 24th of March, for which we have arranged a place to sleep for two nights including breakfast 🥐, a fun activity, a tour past the highlights of Cologne, and dinner on Saturday.

The rest of the weekend you are free to do whatever you like: explore the historic old town, drink some beers, go on a fountain scavenger hunt or just relax. 🔍🍺⛲🧘🏽‍♀

The subscription list will open Thursday 8th of February at 12:00h. There are only 35 spots available, so be sure to subscribe on time! 
- If there are more than 35 subscriptions in the first hour, there will be a draw amongst those who subscribed in the first hour. After this, it will be first come first serve.

To round off your study or work week on Friday the 15th of March, we are organizing a lovely old-fashioned ATHENA Beers & Bites Borrel, better known in previous years as the ATHENA High Beer. Together with our old owls (oude dozen) we set up a special beer drink, including lovely homemade bites that fit the beers. The beers are in the theme of the previous weekends we organized for GEWIS, do you recognize them?

A beer card is 11 euros and includes 4 special beers and bites. We will start at 16.30u at the bar of GEWIS. You can buy your own beer card at the bar of GEWIS. We hope to see you all there!

ATHENA will come to your rescue. 🦸‍♀️ The best solution to get your lazy ass moving is some sugar! ATHENA will arrange a bittersweet baked breakfast. 😋 Just as a child, you will be able to decorate your own waffles, cake or pancakes with some whipped cream and decorations. 🧇🥞 In case the amount of sugar is not enough to get you going, you can also take a nap or just chill in the beanbags we provide. 🦥

The food is limited, so the earlier you get out of bed, the more chance you have of securing a lovely breakfast! ⌛

On Thursday the 14th of March (4.30pm – 7pm) we have our diesborrel🪩 planned in collaboration with the BAr Committee🍺. Since it is our 10th birthday🎉, we will have 10 different sorts of sour(z) shots available🥃🔟. To enjoy some of these delicious drinks, you can buy a borrel card for 5 euros which will contain 5 of these sour(z) shots🥂.

Next to that, you can come decorate a party hat🥳 with us and we have a different veggie option for the buns🥯, next to the usual ‘broodje knak’. You can of course also just enjoy a beer or viper and chat with your friends🫶!

There will be face masks, nail polish and much more😍. There will be free ‘chipstafel’, a table with different kinds of chips, so you have something to snack during the movies. We will start at 18:00, but you can join us whenever you want to!

We also have a deal for the entirety of our lustrum week such that Viper is only 1.25🍸, so enjoy while you can!

For Tuesday, we transformed a previously seen activity into something that fits ATHENA a bit better. We will be organizing a centurion but with a twist. 🌀 During a centurion, you will take a shot of, usually beer, every minute for a total of one hundred minutes while listening to some music. 🎶 As beer does not really fit ATHENA, we will prepare cocktails to shot! 🍸Additionally, there will be a personalized playlist selected by ATHENA. You can definitely expect K3, Beyoncé, P!nk, Disney and some other singalongs. 👩🏻‍🦰👩🏼👩🏻

During the centurion you will be taking a 20 ml shot of cocktail every minute. We will serve Malibu Ice Tea Green and Peachtree Sprite, and switch halfway. If you don’t like either of those two, please let us know, as you will most likely be able to join the full centurion by drinking one of these two.

Be aware that it is not wise to enter this activity on an empty stomach, so make sure you have eaten properly beforehand. In addition, please do not drink any alcohol before the activity starts.

We start the week nice and active with a dance workshop! 💃 The workshop is given by Fem van de Schoot, a professional dance teacher, who will give us a workshop in the dance style Feminine 🌟. We will start at 6pm and dance until 7.30pm. Since it is important to eat before sporting, make sure to eat something (small) before you attend our workshop 🍲🍝.

Afterwards you are of course welcome to join us at GEWIS for a drink and a game of Viperpong 🍻🥂! We have a deal for the entirety of our lustrum week such that Viper is only 1.25🍸, so enjoy while you can!

ATHENA loves Christmas ⛄ with lots of hot chocolate, glühwein, glitters, Christmas trees, lights, food, and great company. This is why we are organising a great Christmas activity to enjoy together. On the 20th of December, you will be able to make your own Christmas-themed crafts. We will be getting into the Christmas spirit by creating Christmas cards to send to all your friends or family, macrame some Christmas tree ornaments and decorate your own glass candle holder. For the last one, it is advised to bring a glass jar. A clean old peanut butter jar or similar would suffice, as long as a tea light can fit through the top. For the rest, we will give you all the tools to make these Christmas objects. We will also arrange some glühwein 🍷, hot chocolate 🍫, and Christmas snacks for the evening. Join us on the 20th of December at 18:30 in GEWIS to get into the Christmas spirit for just €1,50- for first-year students and €3,50 for other Christmas lovers.

It is time for another ATHENA party🎉, and this time the theme will be black, white and glitter 🖤🤍✨. In the year of our 10th birthday, we will have the party on 10-10-2023 at the Spijker. So dress up in your darkest, whitest or shiniest outfit and join us in the fun.

The party will start at 20.00, where you will be welcomed with a free shot. Make sure to be on time as the first 150 beers and sodas will be free🍻! Do you like escape rooms or solving puzzels together with your friends as much as we do? Then you should join ATHENA for a fun night!

We will go to Prison Island Eindhoven and try to escape their cells as quick as possible. Each cell has its own unique task. Teamwork is the way to success in this game, so team up with at most three other people and join us on the 30th of May. If you don't have a team yet, just subscribe!

The activity takes about an hour, less if you are talented. Before and / or afterwards you can have a drink.
