Waarde leden der s.v. GEWIS,
Maar waar viert men zulke triomfen waardig?

🍀️ Are you the best at finding the G, or do you think every day is a lovely day for a Guinness? Then come to our next dies drink, where we will be celebrating Défi's 7th birthday! 🍀️
You will of course be able to buy a borrel card, which you can use to show just how good you are at splitting the G! But that's not all, you will also be able to get an amazing cocktail, and a shot which you can use to practice your G-splitting, even if it's a bit smaller. For those that don't like Guinness, there is also a fun alcohol-free option 😋️.
If you have shown that you can split the G, you can also test your knowledge and show that you can spot the G! 🔍️ And, if you manage to split and spot the G, an amazing award awaits you! ️
So if you want to prove that you're the best Guinness enjoyer, make sure to be there! 🍻️
We hope you can still find the TU/e gala afterwards...
Throughout your academic career, you will need to use LaTeX many many times. Now, there are two paths you can take; get to know LaTeX, fall in love, get married, and live happily together throughout your studies. Or, refuse to use LaTeX until you are forced to, at which point you will be confused, disoriented, and frustrated with it. I think we both know which of those two options is preferable.
As a mathematics student, you will need to use LaTeX already in the first quartile, but computer science students will have to use it as well later this year. To prepare you properly for this, TRAIN is organizing a LaTeX training, during which you will be guided through the basics of how to use it for your homework assignments. All you need to bring is your laptop!
If you want, you can join the food list. We'll order dinner from Fuso Wok. You can sign up via the second sign-up list! You will get a payment request before you can get your dinner :)
To keep your body fuelled during the training, we will provide some free snacks and drinks. We look forward to seeing you there!
Choo choo,

TLDR: cool activities, dark cave, sign up
Are you ready for underground adventures in Valkenburg? Tight tunnels. Pitch-black passages. Walls you'll be clinging to. On Saturday October 3rd, we're ditching the daylight and heading deep into the dark underground for a day that'll push you way outside your comfort zone.
Whether you're squeezing through narrow cave corridors on a bike, conquering rock walls in the dark, or venturing into the unknown on an adventurous cave tour, this is the kind of day you'll still be talking about at the next borrel!
There are 3 activities, out of which you will do 2! When signing up, rank your top 2 activity preferences:
🚲 Cave biking
Discover this great underground landscape, by cave bike! Cycle through the cave, going left, right, seeing a high ceiling, then low again, narrow, spacious, no idea where you are anymore.
🔦 Adventurous cave tour
During this escape tour through the caves, you will discover the stories of the quarry workers, and encounter obstacles they left behind. There will be crawling, sneaking, shooting and even crossing the water!
🧗 Cave climbing
The Scramble Tour will take you to places that normally remain closed to the public. One of the guides will take you over several challenging courses including a via ferrata, and an abseil into the old well. Manoeuvre over the obstacles and stare into the depths.
💭 No preference
Be aware: activities will be split 10/10/10 across the group, so you might not get your 2 faves.
Only 30 spots available, so make sure to subscribe quickly! We leave at 10:30 by train. Travel costs are on you.

Beware: each activity has its own challenges with regards to health. Therefore, it's specified below for each activity which medical issues ensure a strong advice to NOT sign up for this specific activity:
If you are too late for the deadline and we haven't reached capacity yet, then you can probably still join, contact us!
We zien jullie daar :)

Do you enjoy pubcrawls? Do you miss the outdoors from being stuck inside studying this whole quartile? Well don't worry, GEDWAAL has the perfect activity for you!
CHANGE IN PLANS: dinner will not be during the activity, you need to arrange it yourself beforehand! Because of this, the activity also starts an hour later at 18:30. We want to get going then, so please be on time.
⛰️We are putting a GEDWAAL spin on the usual pubcrawl: namely making it a 10km hike! ⛰️
We will start at the university (gathering at GEWIS), and explore Eindhoven the way students know best: through different pubs, finishing at the most familiar one: Hubble 🍻
The activity is completely free (but you do have to pay for your own consumption) and we will even treat you to a round in Hubble if you manage to survive until the end!
Also, while we are promoting this as a pubcrawl, it is generally less intense and as such is also a perfect activity for non-drinkers.
At General Member's Meeting 215, at least the following will be discussed:
Relevant documents can be found on this page or will become available online as soon as possible. Agenda points can be digitally requested at the board via board@gewis.nl. The GMM will be held in English. Authorisations can be done online here.
Starting a week before the GMM is held, you can indicate whether you want to receive printed documents at this meeting. To indicate which documents you would like to receive please use the first subscription list, titled 'Printed documents'. The deadline for this is the 28th of September at 12:00.
It is also possible to join us for dinner at 17:15 in the GEWIS room. We will order at the Fuso Wok. You can add your "Wok"-dish to the 'Eating list' sign-up on this activity before the 28th of September at 14:00. You can pay using a debit/credit card.
Hey First Years,
During this great meeting, the new First Year Committees will be formed. Hopefully you were at the information meeting last week Thurday, where you got a great explanation of what FYCs are and why you should join them. If you missed this meeting, you can still attend the formation meeting to join a FYC, and if you still have questions, you can always come up to me or email me at cib@gewis.nl
During this meeting, you will form into groups that will become the new FYCs and get some time to brainstorm about your name, logo and maybe already things you are interested in organising.
Hope to see you there!
If you can't make it to this meeting but are still interested in joining an FYC, then please reach out to me at cib@gewis.nl
Pitch, please! 🎤💗

Meet MaTCo! Our first session of the year, where we will introduce new members, new faculty, and the new board. Plans for this year's sessions and for the International Mathematics Competition team will be covered, and we will ease members into mathematical Olympiad style problem-solving with an array of interesting questions and tasks. If you are interested in challenging yourself in one of the world’s largest math competitions for university students, wish to practice hard but rewarding problems, or are looking for a community to discuss and attend activities with, then be sure to pop over.
The B.O.O.M. Outdoor Cinema returns on September 15th! We have carefully selected two incredible movies to watch together under the stars (the titles remain secret for now!).
We will fire up the barbecue and there will be popcorn, both included in the price! And, because no great movie night is complete without a refreshing drink, beers and soft drinks will be available to purchase during the night.
Make sure to bring your own camping chair so you are comfortable during the movies!
See you on September 15th!
