Dear members of GEWIS,
In the Netherlands we suffer from a problem. We are among the countries with the least number of holidays. Logically, this problem conflicts with the interests of Hèt Dispuut "In Vino Veritas". So please join us in a little history lesson so you too can start working towards celebrating the number of holidays a Burgundian deserves.
1641 years ago, a Roman-Britain was born in what is now what is now known as Great Britain. That boy was kidnapped by Irish raiders and sold as a slave. However, he escaped and converted the pagan Irish to Christianity. He is now known as St. Patrick and is a national symbol of Ireland.
The holiday that celebrates him is the world's excuse to dress green, drink Guinness and overestimate their Irish roots. However, back in the fifth century, Guinness didn't exist yet.
What did exist however, was shepherd's pie and whiskey. According to legend, it was St. Patrick himself that introduced Ireland to whiskey distillation.
To honor this, Hèt Dispuut is organizing a beautiful Month'like drink to wane yourself in those old times and celebrate this holiday that you deserve. Of course, there will also be wine, because as you may know, wine predates even the Republic of Ireland itself, and no good holiday should go without it.
So learn from history and join us in celebrating this holiday in style.
Met gepaste hoogachting,
Dhr. Deen and Feut Willem
