Lunchlecture Philips Healthcare

At Tuesday December 11th GEWIS organizes another lunch lecture. This time the lecture is given by Rob Albers, Software Architect at Philips Healthcare.

Title: Software Evolution at Philips Healthcare interventional X-ray (iXR)

Interventional X-ray R&D is responsible for the research and development of X-ray systems used for interventional treatment of heart and vascular diseases (e.g. “dottering” and “stent” placement).
Multiple system configurations for different application areas exist, from low end to high end with system software of more than 20 million LOC, programming languages from VHDL to C# and some source code as old as 1988.
Every year a major system release is rolled-out with new functionality and improved performance. As a result, a continuous evolution of the architecture and design takes place, based on changed market demands, cost reduction, new technology or architecture degradation. In this lunch lecture, we will discuss practical experiences and common pitfalls with re-architecting strategies, challenges based on architecture degradation and opportunities for model-driven development.

IMPORTANT: At the last lecture we saw many people who subscribed very late, or who haven't subscribed. Ordering food is almost impossible in this case. Because of that, the subscription list will close at Tuesday morning, 9.30h! After then, you can still join the lecture, but there will be no food for you!
