It is said that the further south you go, the crazier people are about celebrating Carnaval. As people in Eindhoven are already pretty crazy about Carnaval, you can only imagine how insane people will get when you go as far south as you can. 

As Carnaval in Mestreech might be a bit too crazy for some of you, the GEWIS prince will take you to visit Remunj (Roermond) instead, which should also give you an idea of what Dutch southern hospitality looks like. Don't worry if you aren't familiar with the city or Limburg in general, as the prince knows exactly which places are worth visiting!

As always, GEWIS will join the prince in attending the Stropdas Pub Crawl. This pub crawl will take place on the Sunday (February 15th) of carnaval. The ticket sale will open on December 4th at 12:00. These tickets usually sell out within 20 minutes after they become available. You have to arrange your own ticket, so make sure to be on time!

As is tradition, the Carnavals Committee is revealing the GEWIS Prins on this day and we will do that through an amazing pubquiz. Test your Carnavals knowledge, find out who the new Prins will be and win a fun prize. Sign up in teams of up to 4 and show us what you know.

The walk-in will be from 18.00 till 18.15, the pubquiz will start at 18.15.

The Carnavals Committee is looking for a Carnaval name for GEWIS, and we need your help!

In the Netherlands, most cities that celebrate Carnaval take on a different name during this festive time. All of a sudden, we don’t talk about getting a Schrobbelèr shot in Tilburg — no, no, we get one in Kruikenstad! The stropdassenkroegentocht is not a thing in Eindhoven it is a big thing in Lampegat! You don’t celebrate vastenavend in Bergen op Zoom, we go to Krabbegat! Ever seen the parade in Breda, Den Bosch, Maastricht, or Sittard? Never! Maybe in Kielegat, Oeteldonk, Mestreech, or Zitterd though!

Even smaller towns have their own funny names, like Klompengat, Ganzegat, Toeterland, Kattegat, Narregat, Kakkersgat, Theebuikenland, Bommeldurp, Dwèrsklippelgat, Kaaiendonk… and we could go on and on, but we’ll spare you :)

So, as the CC, of course we want to have a beer at “GEWIS,” but it would be so much more fun to have lots of beers at... ???

This year, the Carnaval Committee has decided to change up things a bit. Instead of going to Mestreech, this year the GEWIS prince will take you all to visit Kielegat (Breda) on Carnaval Monday!

We will travel to Breda by train to celebrate Carnaval there. During this day, we will do a pub crawl through the city centre and also go to watch the large parade to enjoy the sight of beautiful wagons all while enjoying some nice drinks!

More information on at what time we intend to leave to Breda will be shared a few days before the event in the above WhatsApp group.

As always GEWIS will join the prince and together walk the “Stropdassen kroegentocht”. Again as always it will take place on the Sunday (2nd of March ) of carnaval. The ticket sale will open on the 29th of November at 12:00 (noon).

It’s that time of year again—carnaval is approaching! As tradition goes, on the well-known date of November 11, the eleventh of the eleventh, eleven/eleven—whatever you’d like to call it—we’ll reveal GEWIS’s new prins carnaval! We’ll do this through games that you must complete successfully in teams of 3 or 4 to earn hints about who the new prins will be. There will be plenty of snacks available, and the activity is completely free!

Naturally, this wonderful date will also be celebrated in carnaval style on Stratum, so afterwards, we’ll head into the city together with anyone who wants to join. Don’t forget to come dressed up, and we’ll see you at the activity!
