Are you ready for underground adventures in Valkenburg? Tight tunnels. Pitch-black passages. Walls you'll be clinging to. On Saturday October 3rd, we're ditching the daylight and heading deep into the dark underground for a day that'll push you way outside your comfort zone.
Whether you're squeezing through narrow cave corridors on a bike, conquering rock walls in the dark, or venturing into the unknown on an adventurous cave tour, this is the kind of day you'll still be talking about at the next borrel!
There are 3 activities, out of which you will do 2! When signing up, rank your top 2 activity preferences:
🚲 Cave biking
Discover this great underground landscape, by cave bike! Cycle through the cave, going left, right, seeing a high ceiling, then low again, narrow, spacious, no idea where you are anymore.
🔦 Adventurous cave tour
During this escape tour through the caves, you will discover the stories of the quarry workers, and encounter obstacles they left behind. There will be crawling, sneaking, shooting and even crossing the water!
🧗 Cave climbing
The Scramble Tour will take you to places that normally remain closed to the public. One of the guides will take you over several challenging courses including a via ferrata, and an abseil into the old well. Manoeuvre over the obstacles and stare into the depths.

Be aware: activities will be split 10/10/10 across the group, so you might not get your 2 faves.

Sign up with a team of 3 - 5 persons and become the best flunkyball players of GEWIS! If you do not have a team, don't worry, just sign up and we will arrange a team for you!🏆When you sign up, you will play multiple rounds, after which there will be a finale to decide which team is the best! 🥇

On December 15th, we’re collaborating with S.P.V. Blue to organise a Sensual Christmas Pole Workshop that’s all about movement, confidence, and fun!
During the workshop you'll learn a fun polechoreography to a Christmas song. No need to worry if you do not have any polefitness experience, this workshop will mostly focus on flow, sensuality and (floor) dance. You will leave this workshop feeling confident and sexy, which we from Défi aim to bring to the people of GEWIS. Bonus: it will also prepare you for the holiday spirit.

After practicing all these obstacles, we will turn all of this into a relay race in which you, together with a team of 4 and reach for ultimate glory! Either case, we have got the thing just for you! With this bootcamp you will be crawling through the mud, climbing through tires under a bridge and manoeuvring through a bunch of obstacles. Together with survival run association All Terrain, Défi is organizing this bootcamp where you can challenge yourself to a bunch of different exercises.
After practicing all these obstacles we will turn all of these into a big survival run in which you, together with a team of 4, will be doing a relay race style tournament for an awesome prize! So sign up with some friends and become the best survival team of GEWIS!

Do you know the difference between a vulva and a vagina? And how much do you know about the human reproductive system? Sexologist Marieke Dewitte discusses everything related to our sexual anatomy and its relationship to sexual pleasure.
We all know what our own genitals look like, and maybe some of us have seen those belonging to others as well. But despite sex education being part of most high school curricula, general knowledge about our reproductive organs is often lacking. We confuse facts with myths, we only know the bare minimum about sexual intercourse, and the anatomy of these organs is a mystery to many of us.
It is high time to change this, so take the opportunity to join this crash course in human anatomy, specifically about the genitals and the diversity of the human body. In the midst of it all, you will also learn more about sexuality, getting aroused and enjoying yourself during sex.
Dr. Marieke Dewitte is a clinical psychologist and sexologist. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology at Maastricht University, where she has established a unique sex lab to study sexual interactions between couples. Her research focuses on the basic mechanisms of sexual functioning, interactions between partners during sexual arousal, and attachment in relation to sexual responses.
NOTE FOR HALLOWEEKEND PARTICIPANTS: If you have attended our Halloweekend in the past, you have already solved our murder mystery. HOWEVER, we also have another murder mystery (not created by us) for you to solve!! Please keep this in mind when forming teams, and remember not to spoil the fun for others :(

Snackies are on the house to keep your brain sharp. So get your fellow students, form teams of 3 to 6 people, and dive into the murder scenes!
(The murder mystery takes about 3 hours, so we might finish earlier than 22:30 but since we have to check your answers we added a little bit of a time buffer)
*Disclaimer: No one was harmed in the making of this murder mystery. Absolutely no murders occurred, nor were attempted. All "victims" are alive and well, currently sipping cocktails at the bar or dozing off blissfully. Any scenes of crime were purely fictional and carefully crafted by members of Défi with a lot of laughter about fake names.

The time has finally come: to finish Défi's spectacular first lustrum week, we have put all of our enthusiasm and time into organizing our first external GEWIS weekend, dedicated to our lustrum.
We wouldn't be Défi if we made subscribing to our weekend somewhat out of your comfort zone, which is why we are keeping the location a secret, as well as the activities that are planned for the weekend. Are you willing to take that risk with us?
For GEWIS members the weekend will cost 55 euros. For graduates this price is doubled, leading to 110 euros. What you will get for this, is the following. Of course, a two-nights-stay at a beautiful location is included. On Friday evening, we will have a buffet at the location. Both on Saturday and Sunday morning, there will be breakfast provided by the location. Furthermore, we have two activities organized for you throughout the weekend.
Note that we will go to the location using public transportation. We accounted for this on the budget, so don't be afraid that you will need to pay more if you don't have a weekend-free subscription.

The day has finally arrived, the day we've all been waiting for... Défi turns 5 years old today! Naturally, this day has to be celebrated big, and what is a better celebration than singing songs together on our birthday? As a 5-year-old, Défi loves to dress up for a masquerade cantus, which you can join us for on this beautiful, yet mystical Wednesday, October 9th. Knowing Défi, this cantus will not be like other cantusses you've joined in the past, and one change in that is the type of drink: aside from the regular beer, you can also join this cantus while drinking paardenkut (a mix of Apfelkorn and sparkling water)! It has to be noted, though, that there is no possibility to switch between beer and paardenkut during the cantus. Of course, you can also join this cantus with a water ticket.
To obtain a ticket, make sure to approach a Défi member or the board, and we'll see you at our masquerade cantus on the 9th of October!

On this afternoon, the Défi lustrum week will officially start! And the bravest among us will join Défi on an abseiling adventure of Vertigo! This is the chance to challenge our natural fear of heights, and to see the campus from a whole new perspective. While that sounds exciting, we understand it can be scary to step out of your comfort zone. But you don’t have to worry, because once you have successfully completed the abseil, Défi, Wolfpack and the BAC will welcome you back on the ground with a nice cold drink in your hand. We will gather all the victors and celebrate their succes at this victory borrel.
There is also good news for those who were unable to participate in the abseiling activity. The victory borrel is open for all GEWIS members so that we can celebrate the succes stories together. At the start of the borrel, you can even watch the last group making their way down Vertigo. Meanwhile, Wolfpack will make sure that there are some nice beers and sodas while cheering the last group on (rumour has it that they bought a keg for you all).
So whether you want to celebrate our lustrum, your abseiling succes or if you want to cheer the victors on from a distance, we hope to see you at the borrel!

Picture this: you, standing at the top of one of the tallest buildings on campus, heart racing, as you prepare to descend into the thrill of a lifetime. Five years ago, Défi organized abseiling from Vertigo, which was the final step for Défi to become a fraternity.
Soon, Défi will turn five years old. To kick off our Lustrum week, we are going to abseil from Vertigo again in collaboration with the Eindhoven Student Alpine Club (ESAC) and Wolfpack!
But the excitement doesn’t end when your feet touch the ground! Once you’ve successfully made your descent, you’ll be welcomed back with a well-earned borrel. Gather with fellow adventurers, share your stories of triumph, and toast to an unforgettable day. Rumour has it that Wolfpack has bought a keg for you all.
Note that there are only 90 spots available, so be quick to subscribe! If there are more subscriptions before Thursday, September 26, 23:59, there will be a draw. After the success of last year's pride walk, Eindhoven will have its first official pride this year on the 8th of June!! We from Défi can't miss that of course, and we'd love to bring as many GEWIS'ers as possible to this festive event.
We will meet together at the social hub at 13:30. Here you will get the opportunity to dress up in the safe change area. Make sure to bring your most colorful clothes! The theme of this year is: "Light up your pride", and we can't wait to see everyone glow ;) We will also bring some rainbow decorations to ensure everyone is looking festive!
At 14:00 the pride parade will start and we will walk through the center of Eindhoven. During the parade we will, of course, provide some snacks. And directly after, at around 14:30, we will go to the Pride Vibes festival! (Don't forget your identification). At the festival, we will enjoy some music from great musicians and performances by drag queens!!
The activity will be completely free of charge, so the only costs will be the drinks that you buy during the festival. Make sure to subscribe if you plan on joining us, that way we can indicate how many snacks we need to buy. (If you want to join us later than 13:30, that is fine as well, please still subscribe). We can't wait and we hope to see you there, so that we can all celebrate love together <3

As a small introduction to Défi's first lustrum and (hopefully) first external weekend for GEWIS, we present to you: a painting activity with a challenge. This challenge will be to paint something that you perceive as a nightmare, something you would rather not think about, something scary...
After a small introduction from the amazing leader of our workshop, you will get a 30x40cm canvas and some paint and you can start! Since it is a very good idea to have a small break in the meantime to do some reflection and help each other out, there will be a nice snack in the middle of the activity as well :)
Then some practical information: please bring a bag so you can take your painting home. Also, it speaks for itself that your clothes might get dirty from the paint, so it is not wise to wear your newest or most expensive clothes. Please take that into account!

Have you ever seen the show Hot Ones on YouTube and wished to be able to try those hot sauces yourself, to see whether you could sustain them all? Défi has you covered!
On the 27th of February we will embark on a journey with seven different hot sauces, of which some are actually used on the show and one is made by Défi! All sauces are accompanied by different (vegetarian) snacks. (Note that seven snacks is quite a lot, but does not serve as dinner, so eat something small beforehand please :) ) Aside from these seven snacks, two spicy cocktails will be made by Défi which you can get when also buying an alcohol ticket for one additional euro. There are, of course, substitutes available for the contestants who cannot survive the spiciness of all of the sauces ;). Other than an interview, we will provide you with spicy questions to answer and challenges to do to distract you from the hot sauces!
Défi wouldn't be Défi if we didn't add a challenge to this spicy activity. You have to subscribe in a duo and can earn points in multiple ways, which will become clear during the activity. The winning duo will go home with a prize! Note that your duo partner should be someone who you are comfortable sharing things with.
There is a limited capacity of 36 people (so 18 duo's), so it will be a first-come-first-serve activity!

On the 9th of October Défi will have their fourth dies! We are very excited to celebrate this event during our dies borrel on the 12th of October. Since we love to go out of our comfort zones, the borrel will have an out of the box dies theme, namely, REINCARNATION! Because what better time is there to think about death and afterlife than on your dies right? :p
We think birthdays are a time to celebrate life and the living. It is a time for festivity. However, such times may also be enhanced by taking a moment to think about what it means to live on. Therefore Défi would love to present you, the borrelaars, with things that might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but possess a certain beauty which can help appreciate life a little more. This leaves one with all the more reason to celebrate and cheer! This borrel will clearly not be any ordinary borrel, and therefore we have some fun extra's for you! There will be a borrelcard available including five in-theme items for the mere price of only €4! But that is not all! There will also be a unique darkroom experience where you can follow a story about life, death and reincarnation. So afterwards we will put the new learned theory to practice. Here you will get the chance yourself to clay and paint a penis or vagina or any other type of sexual anatomy. All whilst enjoying fun conversation starters, and having the opportunity to ask the sexologists every question you could dream to ask.
