GELIMBO - Carnaval 2013

-- English version --

Same as every year GELIMBO will celebrate Carnival in Eindhoven. Maybe if you do not come from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil or the Bundesland Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany you are wondering what Carnival exactly is.

Carnival involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. People often dress up or masquerade during the celebrations, which mark an overturning of daily life.

The roots of Carnival are Catholic because the festivities end the day before ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Lent. The Lent is a period of 40 days in preparation of Easter.

If you want to know more about it's history I would recommend you to just read the wikipedia page about Carnival; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival.

We hope you will join us in celebrating. We will gather at GEWIS at 19:11 after which we will go into the city to celebrate.

So put on your wildest, your greatest, your funniest, your most original costume and join us with celebrating.
