Lunch Lecture Sioux

Parallel computing in the modern age.

The basic techniques of semaphores and mutexes are to multicore programming, what leaves and tree branches are to building a house. Yes, they will keep you from freezing, but it will be windy and leak everywhere. The programmer's free lunch of faster processors has come to an end a decade ago. So to make your program faster, but keep its reliability, you must use modern multicore programming techniques. In my talk you will gain insight in what modern programming languages and libraries can offer to make your multicore life comfortable!
