In this lunch lecture, Thijs Pepping will try to give you and understanding of synthetic media. Synthetic Media will drive us into a fourth media revolution which will be characterized by AI manipulated and generated media (text, visuals, audio, data). In order to understand the impact of synthetic media we will open not the blackbox of AI, but the blackbox of the human psyche. How do we perceive reality, process information, and use stories in order to relate with the outside world? We frame Homo Sapiens as post-reality species, and this insight has profound consequences for how we should see synthetic media, its expected impact, and future IT design decisions.
