Practical Route Planning Algorithms for Logistics Many applications in logistics require that “vehicle routing problems†are solved. Planning how a fleet of trucks should be used to deliver an amount of orders at low fuel cost and also fast would be a typical example. A central part of such a planning is to compute the travel costs between the involved addresses. Doing that efficiently is an interesting problem itself. The talk discusses some pretty advanced and clever algorithms from that area. The discussed algorithms are not only interesting results of academic research. They are actually used by the industry to solve real problems for real customers, helping to deliver real goods. Have fun.
