Do you want to get an insight in the work of a front-end software engineer at a larger company? Do you want to see how a modern and state-of-the-art web application is built? Do you want to know what an professional development process looks like? At ORTEC we optimize just about everything for the largest multinationals, from calculating airline ticket prices to optimizing the supply chain of oil companies to improving vehicle routing at logistics customers. These mathematical solutions need to be presented in a modern and user-friendly web application. In this presentation Thijs Langeveld (Frontend software engineer) will show you what a web application at ORTEC looks like, which tools are involved and how the (agile) development process for a typical web application is set up. He will also explain what his role is in this comprehensive operation. You will discover what steps are involved to assure the quality of web applications and to satisfy the customer's needs, which can both be challenging, and you will get a glimpse of the latest tools used in the process of building a web solution. Topics that will be touched are agile development, requirements analysis, UI/UX design, maintaining a codebase, continuous integration, tooling for web development, automated tests and automated deployment.
